Dr. Smriti Nalwa

Stressful Treatment

This Review has been long due. My baby was born last year quarter. Well it all started out good. Dr. Smriti Nalwa is very sweet and Patient. No doubt about it.

Her Receptionist is also very good and helpful. Everything was good until the delivery.

My wife had to induced due to some complication and it took us 72 hours i.e 3 days from induction to normal delivery.

Well i never expected that. Dr Nalwa was very insistent on an induced natural birth, which might be good in some cases, but when u have waited more that 2 days since induction, it think, per consultation with other doctors no waits that long.

There was excruciating pain and hence the continuous need of Epidural.

It was a continuous cycle of Pitocin(external labor Inducer) and Epidural.

Fortunately the baby and mother were good after the delivery, howvere my wife had a vaginal delivery with 10 inch Episiotomy. This is where it all started.

The regular check after delivery was after 6 week.Well i dont say that there was not fault at our end, but somehow the sticjes didn’t heal properly and some broke and things started joining at wrong places.

After 4 weeks Dr Nalwa said, there was Tissue Granulation and she burned the tissue in full conscience of my wife in her Office.

It was tremendously painful. Why would do that in your office and then she prescribed some medication and asked us to check in a week.

We had plans to travel back to India soon, so when we visited her after 5 1/2 weeks, she burned the area again, saying it didn’t heal properly.

It was again done in office and she said that she is good to travel and to consult a gynecologist in India.

I requested her to extend her Pregnancy disability leave as this was not a normal case and she is still not completely healed after 5.5 weeks.

She disagreed stating that there is a lot of documentation and justification required for it and she cannot do it.

This was ridiculous as why would deny extension when you the know the patient has not recovered even 50%.

The Repeated burning of the tissue granulation didn’t help and when we reached India, our family doc there said that it was all a mess and the place needs to be cut and re-stitched.

This was a shock for us. Had we stayed in US with Dr Nalwa, she would have burned the area over and over again with correcting the root cause.

We were so glad to meet another gynecologist in India.

Bottom Line: My re-commendation would be to stay away as this was a case of everything ending in a Mess due to the doc. Never again

  1. I am terribly dissapointed with her lack of empathy and will not be back to see her again.

Dr. Nalwa seemed very nice on my first appointment, but seemed a bit distracted. After telling her my symptoms she had me get an ultrasound which came back showing a polyp, so she decided I needed to have surgery.

The next appt. was to go over my pre-opperative details. As she is reading and going over the reasults from the lab, she hesitates and seems to be at a loss for words, which worried me, I thought OMG what is it! She told me she had missed a large mass the size of an orange behind my pelvis, so we would have to postpone the surgery and sent me to have an MRI.

I was sitting in shock thinking the worse, could it possibly be cancer, maybe it’s just a mistake! I was mad that she had overlooked such a large mass and had let about a month go by. She said she didn’t know what it was and recommended me to an oncologist. I had to have surgery to remove a large tumor, an ovary and debulked my pelvis since it had spread.

I am now recovering from surgery and had my post surgery doctor visit. He said I had a pre-malignant tumor which is very fast growing and will need to go see him in 3 months to see if it has not spread, which in that case I will have to have my uterus removed. I am only 39 and was hoping to start a family soon but it will be a miracle if I do.

  2. Please don't go here find a good doc.

I am heartbroken right now and I am writing this review so that no one goes here. I was pregnant when I saw her, she does lots of unnecessary tests and puts you on progesterone suppositories even when not needed. They are controversial to use, I think she has a deal with the drug store and prescribes them like giving away candy on Halloween.

I had a miscarriage and even though I was telling her to check for things that were a red flag she would just do an ultrasound and say everything was OK, until it was too late. She stopped replying to my emails and started referring me to other Doctors. I think she also gets referral fees sending patients to these hospitals. At the end of the day she is all in to money making and nothing else. She doesn’t care for her patients.

I should have done some more research, but giving this feedback so that you don’t experience the same. We deserve a better treatment. Please don’t go here find a good doc.
