Dr. David MacGregor

The Rude Receptionist

I was referred to Dr. David J. MacGregor from my primary care doctor who refers many patients to Dr. MacGregor.

Called the office to no avail, must follow the protocol and register all of your personal information in order to get an appointment or even speak to anyone, took 4 weeks for an appointment, on my appointment day I show up 10 minutes early, the rude receptionist couldn’t find my appointment, then asks me if I registered on-line, I respond thats the only way you will even take an appointment as they will not talk yo you unless.

She then finds my appointment and proceeds to check me in, then tells me that they don’t take my insurance? I ask her why didn’t anyone contact me, she says “they did, someone called you and explained this to you as it is right here on the screen”, I said that no one called me? She proceeded to lie again so I had her print out the comments from her own system which showed “No One Called Me”!

I asked to see the office manager who was also condescending and rude and did the same thing, said “someone called me” which was NOT true.

The point Im trying to make here is, don’t treat people like they are all stupid, be honest and polite not phony and rude!

I took off from work (which I am commissioned based) and payed $25.00 for parking to park in Union Square.

Before I left, the office manager and the receptionist both said “you can pay for your appointment”!

  1. Excellent care by a highly professional staff

Excellent care by a highly professional staff. Scheduling appointments is efficient and prompt. Leslie Bowler is particularly good at explaining procedures and giving helpful and practical advice.

She has provided first rate care and management of my various skin cancers over the last year and a half.

  2. He is very nice and attentive.

I’ve been doctor’s MacGregor patient for many years. His diagnosis and the medicine he prescribed always worked for me. He is very nice and attentive.

  3. I would rate him at the top of all doctors I have ever seen.

I think I’ve been going to Dr. MacGregor for about 5 years now. The guy (and his staff) are great. You never feel rushed or like you are “just another patient”. He has a great sense of humor and knows his stuff. I would rate him at the top of all doctors I have ever seen.

  4. he is not pushy at all. I still have to observe my face.

He is professional and a good derma , well he really knows his thing – of course he should. 🙂 He really took time to check the condition of my skin and give me sound advice & gave me the necessary treatments, he is not pushy at all. I still have to observe my face.

  5. ridiculously rude and shameful interactions with the customers they SERVE!

Great practitioners and very friendly office staff. However, their answering service personnel are HORRIBLY rude and TOTALLY disrespectful! The guy(s) who picks up are curt, sarcastic, interruptive when you’re trying to explain something to them, AND they hang up on you.

I’ve lived all over the U.S. and have experiences with many doc office answering services… theirs top ALL in ridiculously rude and shameful interactions with the customers they SERVE!

  6. I went today for the second time to the medical group where Mr. Macgregor belongs.

I went today for the second time to the medical group where Mr. Macgregor belongs. I previously had an appointment with a physician assistant Satoni Patel (I just found her card) who took off with electricity some red spots I had on my body for $ 120 something.

The result was great and in order to carry on I decided to go back 2 years after in order to keep the benefit of the first treatment before having too more. I have no medical insurrance. I unfortunately took an appointment however without the name of this physician, even if I had the date of my first appointment.

Nobody was able to help me with the name of the physician when I called. Finally I ended up this morning with Mr Macgregor who told me I have only some little one and then that he could do it only with laser for $ 250 as a cosmetic act. I was surprised and therefore I told him that it was too expensive for me.

The meeting lasted 5 minutes maximum. When I left, I had to pay $ 125 for the consultancy. I was quite upset as he did nothing and was not helpful at all. if i had so little, he could have done it with electricity? Finally I had to pay $ 50 because I have no insurance… What does it mean? with an insurrance it is $ 125 and without it is $ 50? I will never come back for sure in this medical office. It is not serious.

  7. He did not make me feel comfortable.

He did not make me feel comfortable. I waited a month to see him and he only gave me only 5 minutes of his time. There were many questions I had wanted to ask him, and he made me feel rushed. He didn’t sit down with me to discuss my concerns, nor did he go over various treatment options I now know exist.

I left with the impression that his preference would have been for me not to seek treatment, or at least not with him. I believe he did not want me to return for a follow up, and he was upset that he was compelled to set up this appointment.

  8. Avoid!! Unfortunately, I can't give ZERO stars.

I called twice to get an appointment, leaving messages both times because NO ONE answers the phone. When I finally got through, the office picked up the phone and hung up, without speaking a work. I can’t imagine anything more UNPROFESSIONAL — not returning phone calls and hanging up on patients!

Considering that patients may be anxious about discovering a lesion and are feeling stressed, this kind of non-responsiveness and unprofessionalism is total inexcusable. Avoid!! Unfortunately, I can’t give ZERO stars.

  9. Obviously I will NEVER go back to that office and will find someone to either take out the stitches or continue with future treatment on my skin cancer.

I made an appointment because I believed I was concerned regarding something that looked like Skin Cancer. Dr. MacGregor was booked up for over a month so I asked to see one of the other doctors in the office and I got checked out. She said that she would be taking a biopsy and actually conducted a proceedure and stiched me up. I was told that I would hear back within a week if it was Basil Cell cancer or Melanoma (sp).

Never heard back and called and left number of messages. No response. Two days later, almose 5 days from when I was told I would hear I recieve a message from the woman that worked on me and she said, “you need to speak with Dr. MacGregor himself regarding your biopsy, as I will be out until our next appointment.”

Obviously concerned I called back numerous times with no response back from the office staff. All I wanted to know was if it was a Basil Cell cancer or the more serious cancer. I finially called and told the receptionist that I needed to speak with Dr. MacGregor, as specificly instructed by his assistant.

She snapped back at me and said, “Dr. MacGregor is a busy man and will not be getting back to you until after 6:00 pm.” I told her that all I wanted was to know why I only could speak with Dr. MacGregor and why someone else could not simply read my chart and tell me the news. She said, “You have to be considerate of the people that the Dr. is meeting with today and be patient.”

  10. A TOTAL QUACK SCAM!

No doctor to be seen. Liar staff. No real medical care given. A front for selling snake oil to desperate women.

  11. One of the worst experiences I've had with a Doctor's office.

I agree with other posts regarding the appointment process. Additionally, a guy by the name of Rick is INCREDIBLY arrogant and rude when talking to patients on the phone. One of the worst experiences I’ve had with a Doctor’s office.
