Dr. Charles Andrews

Wast Of Time

I’m giving Dr. Charles Andrews 1-star because I feel like he does the bare minimum of care.

I originally went to Dr. Andrews because he’s close to my work/home, but he also had high feedback here.

However, after being his patient for 2+ years, I’m embarrassed I didn’t try and find another primary care doctor sooner.

There are four main issues I have with Dr. Andrew’s and his office.

First, it’s almost a guarantee that you’ll be waiting in their waiting room for at least an extra 45 minutes on top of the time of your appointment.

Second, once you get your vitals and taken back to an exam room, you’ll be waiting there for at least another 30+minutes before he, or anyone else, comes by to see you.

Third, after all that waiting…he literally wants to rush through your appointment.

Fourth, and the worst part, is that his care is basically ineffective.

He never gives you a solid, or even halfway decent, diagnosis/treatment strategy and instead will just fire up Google, then bring up WebMed or another site that provides an overview of one of the five things he thinks it could be, reads it verbatim off the screen to you and then scribbles it on the back of the exam sheet for you to take with you and research them to see if any apply to you…Good Grief!

It almost ended up making a hypochondriac because I would always leave with more concerns than when I got there.

Over 2+ years, I probably had roughly 8 visits with Dr. Andrews and at least half of those were unnecessary follow up visits that could’ve been avoided if he actually took the appropriate amount of time to listen and attempt to diagnose what I later found out was very common ailments.

Once I realized the issue wasn’t my health, but Dr. Andrews quality of care, I made another appointment with a different primary care Dr right around the corner and it was almost an immediate improvement.

  1. He did notice something on my wife's neck too that we both didn't see.

Dr. Andrews saved my wife’s life is a concierge DR who does not charge a concierge price. My wife and I just moved to the Newport Beach area and we researched a lot of doctors including the ones located in the same complex. Luckily we have a friend who is a member of the Balboa Club who highly recommended Dr. Andrews.

My friend warned me it might be hard to get in right away but luckily since I was a new PT the receptionist let me schedule an appointment for that week. At first I was a little skeptical because the waiting room didn’t have a TV in it like most offices and I could hear rude comments being made. When I walked to the front I noticed there was a DR laughing with someone and talking about someone else.

I asked the front if that was a DR and the girl said yes and I asked which one … run ready to run but it was not DR. Andrews. The office staff took me back within 15 minutes and got my vitals. Once the DR walked in the door I knew he was going to be great.

He had a big smile and gave me a fist bump, He spent at least an hour with me which is medical service I have never received in my life. He ran my blood and did some other tests. His staff was very friendly. I had a tall guy take my blood and he got my blood the first time.

Usually its very hard. If it was not for the DR and his staff I would have given it 4 stars because there were other people there hanging out, laughing, and talking not even saying Hi to my wife and I when we walked by. That seems very unprofessional for a medical office.

When I asked the guy who took my blood if they also worked here he said they were the other doctors staff. They seemed very rude and didn’t smile. We were very happy to know they were not the ones taking care of us.

My wife always notices when a staff smiles or not and thinks its important She was happy that the girl in the front and the man who drew our blood was smiling and polite. We are still working on insurance and the DR accepted cash. I was very surprised the DR is not concierge but you can tell he truly cares about his patients and what he does.

He did notice something on my wife’s neck too that we both didn’t see. We got a referral right away and it did come back positive. If it was not for the DR paying attention to small details and listening to us her growth could have spread because it looked like a regular mole.

  2. If you want excellent health care then this is the place.

This is my first time yelping but had to start due to the excellent service at this office. I was able to schedule an appointment the same day with the nice receptionist. Though there was a bit of a wait the office had painting on so and bottle waters so it made the time go fast.

Everyone was very nice! The DR was amazing! He was so smart and spent time about me. I felt cared for. I had to get tests like labs and an eck that were done there!

The lab guy was amazing too. Overall it was such a great experience. I would never write a review on an office or start an account but had to! If you want excellent health care then this is the place.

  3. Dr. Andrews and his office are extremely disapointing.

Dr. Andrews and his office are extremely disapointing. At first, I thuoght it was just me. However, after my 5th visit in a row where I was left sitting in the waiting room for over an hour (after my appointment time), I spoke with a few of his other patients and they said that’s almost always the case. When I complained to the front office, they said appointments aren’t guarantees and that it seemed like a pretty insulting response to me.

The worst part of my experiences using Dr. Andrews is the quality of care I received from him. He speaks really fast and he clearly wants to move onto the next patient whether you feel like you’re issue was heard or not. The last time I was there, it tooks me 2 hours to get scene and then it wasn’t even 2 minutes before he was already walking out the door.

I had to stop him and tell him I still had questions/concerns, which he then didn’t even bother to open up his laptop, but instead gave me name of a specialist to see. I saw that specialist and she told me my issue was pretty common and wondered why he sent me to see her…because it was something he could’ve addressed with an over the counter. After my 5th visit, I won’t be going back here.

  4. Scammer

I have only seen Dr. Andrews once, although I do consider him to by my primary care dr. The problem I have is with his office. I called in my prescription on Friday the 15th of August. today is the 19th of august and I have yet to get my prescription filled or even a return phone call.
