Dr. Baumgaertel Susan is part of the Polyclinic’s “Partnership in Health”, a boutique-type practice that boasts greater individualized attention, same-day appts, consults with nutritionists, and other perks.
All for a $35/month fee, independent of insurance costs/copays. Sounds like it might be great, right? I made an appointment over a week ago to see her today (Monday) for an intake.
On Friday, her staff called to confirm the appt. I arranged for my spouse to take time off from work for childcare, and we adjusted our schedule accordingly.
FIFTEEEN minutes before I was scheduled to be at her office today, they called to cancel.
No explanation other than “there was a scheduling error” and “sorry for the hassle”.
Staff was rude and barely apologetic. When I said “but I’ve had to make all these arrangements to attend this appointment, and my spouse took time off from work, and you called to confirm on Friday!”, the receptionist giggled and responded “yes, but then the weekend happened and we realized there was a scheduling error”.
They offered to reschedule in a week, but I decided to go with another referral.
We’ve been looking for a doc we can rely on and be with for years to come.
That doctor will definitely NOT be Dr. Baumgaertel. Given how little respect she and her staff have for her patients’ time, be forewarned if you’re looking for a new doctor.
