Clayton Homes

Lack Of Motivation

Sounds like many have had similar situations as us with Clayton Homes. We had our land under contract in April and purchased a house that was completed on the lot that same month.

Our financing was already in order and we were told that the house would be set and complete by the end of june beginning of July.

Well it is now march and this project has still not been completed.

They drag their feet on everything, dont return calls or emails and there is really no way to hold them accountable.

My wife has gone through a complete pregnancy during this ordeal and now they are telling us that they plan on completing and closing on the house on May 19 which is seven days after the commitment from the bank expires!

They are nice enough people but they should not be running a housing business with their lack of motivation or skills to complete the process.

  1. Was scammed and lied to

We went and looked at their mobile homes decided to buy a brand new spirit model was told if we paid a $1000 down they would start building our new home so we did and waited a month and a half for it to built when it was built we were told to come look at our new home we did and were excited for it to arrive well today it finally arrived and we found out it’s the demo model that we looked at on their lot a month and a half ago instead of the new one we paid a $1000 for them to start building the demo model had damaged that we pointed out and were told we didn’t have to worry about that because ours was being built brand new

  2. We give the highest recommendation for Clayton Homes.

We recently purchased a great home from Clayton. We have rarely been treated with so much professionalism delivered with a caring attitude. Carl was magnificent and Sergio exhibited every great quality in a salesman in the way of helpfulness, followthrough and knowledge.

There just isn’t enough space here to list every way we were pleased and assisted. We give the highest recommendation for Clayton Homes.

  3. I hope you will be lucky enough to get her as your sales person.

This is the first review I have ever written. Buying a Mfg home can be very stressful and confusing with all the options. Scarlett Daly of Clayton homes was so helpful and understanding.

She really removed the dread out of the buying process, took extra time with us explaining all the options and pricing. Scarlett had all the patience you could hope for.

  4. Worst home I ever purchased in my lifetime.

Worst home I ever purchased in my lifetime. Worst customer service ever. My new home came with paint on the floors, dirty and painted carpet, scratched plastic sinks, unlevel house, tub and shower kits that were not attached to the walls, carpeted areas with no baseboards.

I could go on and on and give you plenty of pictures to prove it. All I can say is never again and please tell your friends to run and never consider this home builder.

  5. Don't believe the sticker price!

We started our home buying journey at this place, and wasted a lot of time here. We were looking to buy a triple wide home, and once the price was agreed upon, we were then loaded with ridiculous prices for everything from set up, to delivery, to cleaning! (Like we should need to pay for cleaning on a NEW home!) When we balked at the inflated price, we were told that we should look at a home “that we could afford”.

We ended up going to Homes Direct in Salida, and got exactly the same home with no added on fees, and paid the price posted inside the home. We saved over 100k, by not buying from Clayton, and now have the home we were after. Google Clayton Homes on line and look at their shady business practices via Warren Buffet, who owns the company. You will be shocked.

  6. This company is a joke.

This company is a joke. I bought a new clayton home and in a few months had roof leaks and leaks all over the house. I had to sell the new home after 2 years because of mold from leaks and strong chemical smell that would not go away inside the home. I lost my home, tons of money and buying a clayton home was the worst mistake of my life.

    1. Corporate Crooks

Roof leaks from the time delivered, seems not their problem. Homeowners says manufacturer’s failure, so now we have leaks in three different rooms and are due to the vents they use, but do not see the fault in their workmanship. If not for my property, they can come get this piece of shit so called home.
