American Heritage Federal Credit Un...

The Customer Service Is Horrid

I am a customer of American Heritage Federal Credit Union and I am not a new customer.

My experiences with AMHFCU have been all but enjoyable.

To begin with, they require an entirely new application each time you open another account.

That is completely ridiculous and a waste of time.

They misspelled my name not once but twice on my checks, not a huge deal but very annoying having to deal with.

My debit card randomly worked, sometimes it would say wrong pin, sometimes it would work.

I had to drive to a branch that is 25 miles from me, because my local branch could not fix it.

This happened three times total, once to my wife, and twice to me.

When I call customer service about it, all they say is go to your branch.

They are not able to change a pin at the customer service center? What is that? Want to open a business checking account? They ask for so much unnecessary paperwork that I decided to leave it with “big bank”.

Aside from interest on my checking accounts, I have not seen a single benefit to this credit union over other financial institutions and will not be back.

Their rates aren’t much, if any, better than other institutions, and the customer service is horrid.

I would venture to say they are worse than what I have experienced elsewhere.

  1. Great community credit Union.

Great community credit Union. They have secured loans and credit cards if you want to build your credit. Only problem is, if you want to speak to someone, it might be a long wait. There is only 1 person who can sign you up for checking accounts etc..

  2. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.........

When all was said and done and all the everything looks good………I finally got an answer over three weeks later that I was not able to get a business loan. When I told them that I wanted to take the $14,000.00 was I was approved for, I was told to simply come in and pick up the check.

Now, I’m sitting in the managers office and as were doing the paperwork, he informs me there was a mistake when my info was put into the system and I am not eligible for the $14,000.00 I am only eligible for $5,200.00. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AHFCU TO MY WORST ENEMY!!

NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING OR WHAT IS GOING ON, THIS WAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH IN MY LIFE!! DEAL WITH AHFCU AT YOUR OWN RISK!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED………

  3. Never Again

I dealt with the New Britain office and it was a complete and utter nightmare. My advice is, when you pass an American Heritage Federal Credit Union (any location) hit the gas and and drive by faster. On a recommendation I was told to go to AHFCU as I was seeking a personal and or a business loan.

I went in and filled out the personal loan and a few days later I returned with my taxes and business info to fill out the business loan. At this time, I was told that was I was approved for a personal loan for $14,000.00 but before I took the personal loan I wanted to hear the number for the business loan.

At the time I filled out the business loan, the manager told me everything looked really good and there should be no problems and I should have everything within a week. For the next three weeks, I was unable to get in-touch with the manager WHO SIMPLY DOES NOT RETURN PHONE CALLS.

When I finally got in-touch with the manager he basically told me he was a middle man and told me to call the loan officer for the info.

  4. So far not so good.

So far not so good..I had went to a branch 7 days ago to open a business account. First I had to wait about 30 minutes to get service from the ONLY account rep offered. She acted as if she wasn’t concerned with opening the account at all…very short with answers and not very informative at all.

After taking my information she advised me that the Corporate branch would review the information and she would contact me so I could come back and make the deposit to open the account…I’m still waiting for this call..I’ve tried to reach that branch by phone and can only get to a general answering machine.

So now I guess I have to literally drive back to the bank just to get a possible “oh no you weren’t accepted” response..Bad First impression, think I’ll wonder off to a different Credit Union, thanks for giving me the early heads up American Heritage Rhawn Street Branch 5 thumbs down!!

  5. This is NOT an isolated incident

Today, I contacted AMHFCU regarding a payroll check discrepancy. Not only did member advisor Kareem place me on hold for 5 minutes and 7 minutes, respectively, but this was prior to him ever receiving my account information! I waited patiently.

I didn’t raise my voice or disrespect anyone. Not only did Kareem fail to address my initial issue, but when I asked for a supervisor (after the 7 min hold) he comes back regurgitating the same statements which caused me to ask for a supervisor. This is NOT an isolated incident, nor should this be acceptable to any consumer who patronizes this credit union.

The matter-of-fact, nonchalant attitude that has been consistently displayed to be is reason enough to switch credit unions for good! And everyone who I know who has an account will be notified of the treatment I received. Furthermore, the fact that no apology or accommodations were made for me further adds to my displeasure of AMHFCU’s unbelievable standard of (un)professionalism.
