American Financing

NO ANSWERS

Everything started smoothly at first, until it came time to close! I was initially quoted around $5,100 needed at closing. My original loan rep, Ji Kim, was very specific about that.

While having our house built, the loan file was changed over to a new loan rep, Carolyn Sullivan-Hollingsworth, and her assistant, Eric Bloomquist.

I always promptly responded to every single email and provided every bit of documentation requested of me.

Once we were notified of a closing date, I notified Carolyn Sullivan-Hollingsworth to see if that date worked for them and to verify exactly how much I was going to need at closing in the next few weeks.

I also needed to firm up a date so my wife and I could take off of work and so we could give notice to our landlord to move.

Days and days went by and all of a sudden American Financing was like a ghost town.

After begging for someone to confirm our closing date and amount needed, a new dollar amount was finally quoted to be $9,000+ needed at close.

WHAT? How’d we go from $5,100 to $9,000?? NO ANSWERS.

Again, I begged for an explanation as to why such a huge difference. And again, nothing from anyone.

We were left scrambling to find a new mortgage lender.

We went with a local lender (which we should have done in the first place) and went through all the trouble to start a mortgage application all over again with all current documentation and everything!

We spent days getting approved with a new lender. Once we sealed the deal, I emailed American Financing and told them to cancel our file.

Only then did the phone calls and offers of a better rate start coming in. How incredibly lazy, disrespectful, and unprofessional of them!

Here’s the list of the incompetent reps that grossly mishandled our file: Ji Kim, Brian Barker, Carolyn Sullivan-Hollingsworth, and manager Cindy Sotelo.

And yes, I have EVERY single email sent back and forth to back up these events. This taught me to NEVER rely on a celebrity endorsement.

Had I only researched American Financing BEFORE I ever wasted our time I could have saved myself a HUGE amount of stress.

BE WARNED, PEOPLE.

  1. I must say first and foremost, this will be my first review ever regarding anything everyone that I dealt with was very professional and knowledgeable of what they were doing and also in helping me with any questions I had regarding my refinance everything went very smoothly which was quite a surprise to me thanks to all involved with the process and special thanks to Benjamin, Jayme, and Carli I would recommend American Financing to anyone

  2. horrible experience

Had the worst experience with this company took them almost 3 months to get us closed due to their associates pushing our loan aside each opportunity they had. If it wasn’t for me reaching out to get an update I am sure they would’ve never reached back out to us to get us closed or the process could’ve lasted longer and I don’t know why or what the cause of the poor customer service was due to my spouse and I having good credit and income and our home having a ton of equity. Keep in mind I’ve also worked in banking for over 5 years so I was on top of everything they requested! We have refinanced before and the process took less then a month I only stood with this company given they had already pulled my credit and kept promising a solution I really wanted to believe they were as good as the reviews said. It took 5 associates later to get someone who cared and he admitted to not understanding why no one had got anything done and asked for paperwork that they had and should’ve had on file months prior. After speaking to numerous managers they were magically able to lower my closing costs and interest rate as an apology. I still cannot believe it took that long for something someone fixed in less then a week to get us closed. Will never work with this company again!

  3. Zero communication

I’m still going through this excruciating experience. I was asked for documentation and provided as soon as it was available to an email that did not work. I was given another email ( not my consultant) I was never contacted if it was received. I had to make the calls. I specifically requested phone over email. That request was ignored. I have had to check for emails. Finally received an update that we were in underwriting. I waited an entire week for closing date. When I reached out again, I was informed that it was suspended for more documentation. Why was I not communicated with? John Elway should rethink his backing for this company.

  4. I would recommend this place

I would recommend this place. We worked with Rick Lee and he was great. We told him what we needed and he was able to do it in a little over a month. This isn’t the first time we used them and if we need to do something again we will call them.

  5. We just finished a refinance and everything turned out fine.

We just finished a refinance and everything turned out fine. We had a little trouble with the underwriter, but Jay Sobo and his crew worked very hard to get us to the finish line. In the end we have a great rate with a lower payment. This is the second time we have used American Financing with NO problems. Thanks Jay, Tina , and Christine…

  6. American Financing really worked with us and our needs and financial status.

American Financing really worked with us and our needs and financial status. Philip Goddard and his crew really stayed in touch and were ready to answer any questions we had. They really helped keep our cost down and helped us to get a good rate.

  7. once again Carlos for helping us and being with us all the way.

Our experience with American Financial has been great I want to specially thank Carlos Reyes that help us by explaining everything step by step. As a new 1st time home buyer is nerve wrecking not knowing where to start or even what to expect. Thank you once again Carlos for helping us and being with us all the way. The Marin’s family

  8. I appreciated what they did for us.

We just closed on a refinance combining two loans. The process took a long time to get done. There were several difficult issues we had to get the loan. But, Aaron and Jennie worked very hard for us to get the financing we needed.

It is a long process, be patient, not hearing anything always resulted in good news. I would recommend American Financing. I appreciated what they did for us.

  9. I was very pleased with the whole process of the refi I did until the end.

I was very pleased with the whole process of the refi I did until the end. Apparently, the Title company isn’t very good at communicating, & I got my loan closed by a nice Notary named Tiffany at 9:00pm.

Humberto was my broker and very friendly and efficient. I was impressed with how quickly he responded to any of my concerns. I will recommend AF

  10. Bad Service Provide

Did a cash out re-financing and it all went very smoothly only thing which I mention to Humberto was they should ask for all documents at once, would have closed before 30 days if not for a delay due to IRS documents needed.

  11. We recently finished our closing and I will say most things went as scheduled.

We recently finished our closing and I will say most things went as scheduled. The representative, Scott Mays, was pleasant to work with and very prompt in returning either my phone calls or emails when I had any questions or concerns.

The timing from when we initiated the first phone call to the closing of the loans was within the timeframe of what we had expected for our refi. The only small bump in the road was the return of the appraisal,

which was a slight delay of a couple weeks from when we were told it would be back. Our experience did not cause us much anxiety and Scott made the process pleasant.

  12. I would recommend them to others who are looking to finance or re-finance a home.

My experience with American Financing was great. Doug Longoria was the consultant I worked with and he was very helpful through every step. The entire process was efficient, professional and relatively simple.

I received responses back to every inquiry within a few hours, either by email or phone. I would recommend them to others who are looking to finance or re-finance a home.

  13. I would recommend American Financing to new home buyers or those wanting to re-finance.

I found working with Dan Miller at American Financing to be a good experience. The re-fi took longer than expected due to some paperwork issues but it was still completed in a timely manner.

I would recommend that you let potential customers know up front what documentation might be needed in the process. I think this would alleviate a little stress on everyone. Overall, I would recommend American Financing to new home buyers or those wanting to re-finance.

  14. if you can, use another company!

All the radio stations are endorsing this company including John Elway. My father just just used them. Not impressed! Their attention to detail is subpar. They continued send my father disclosure statements and other documents, without sending the documents to his realtor or explaining anything to him. My father is 84 and has not experienced the new closing requirements since the real estate collapse of.

Actually, we haven’t either. The home he bought was a bankruptcy so things take longer than a usual sale. At 4:45 p.m. at closing they decided they needed the proof that the lawyer had the right to sale the property. They had in hand the order from the judge.

They knew this was a bankruptcy, so the American Financing should have asked for the paper sometime during the prior two months, not at closing when people had already gone home. The home had to close in escrow the next day. Please, if you can, use another company!

  15. I am telling everyone I know about this scum bag business and to not go here! EVER!

DON’T Trust these A–holes! They completely lie through their teeth. We were jerked around for 60 days on our refinance and were completely bamboozled into the corner when their “3rd” party agent comes to your home who cannot answer questions. Oh! that is a small detail they do not tell you when they try to make you think they are “making it convenient for you”.

We were promised, as well as signed paperwork to that effect, that we would not be paying closing costs. Our consultant suddenly was out of the country and could not resolve the issue.

Also, this is probably a place that caters to the low rent type of people as you can see from all the bimbo employees parading their unprofessionally dressed bodies around the office.

I received all kinds of emails that were written by someone who obviously did not understand or communicate the English language very well.
I would give these guys a total zero, but the review rating does not go that low. This outfit should not be in business. I am telling everyone I know about this scum bag business and to not go here! EVER!
