Access Medical Centers

They Are Not Getting Real Treatment

I have visited both the Rockwell location and the Expressway location.

The Rockwell location was when I had a broken bone and had to be referred out anyway.

This review is on the NW Expressway location.

I have visited the Expressway location when I had flu/cold type symptoms.

I was given a breathing treatment, rudely questioned “why can’t you do this at home?!

Just buy this stuff and do it yourself!” (note: the solution for the nebulizer DOES have to be prescribed) and was given the prescription version of an OTC Mucinex (exact same formulary) and sent on my way.

Then my symptoms got worse and I had to go to the ER and found out I had the flu!

This is unacceptable as they did not even test me for the flu when I asked if it could be the flu.

Also, they demand payment up front and do not take ANY insurance.

For my visit, I asked to be billed, and they actually did approve to bill me, and I paid it, then upon calling back at another time to make a new appointment, they said they would not do this and have never done Access Medical Centers (I still have my bill from them when they did bill me- it is a real, hard copy document that was not fabricated, oh well…I do not support business that lie and will not visit them again.)

I wonder why they do not trust their patients, do not perform real tests for REAL communicable illness, or even prescribe real medicine? Are these licensed medical professionals? It is no wonder people still go to the emergency room for a sniffle, as they are not getting real treatment from urgent care centers.

  1. I have been to others that are much more efficient and with competent staff.

I am happy to hear that others had good experiences (which is why I went here). However, I did not have a good experience at all. It was a Sunday and was not able to get in to my regular doctor and needed to take my son in. I checked in over the phone and still waited another hour to be seen (My name had been as the next person to be seen for that full hour).

Later during the exam, the PA then came in and blamed me for looking at the wrong arm (although she never asked me which arm and I assumed she knew from the triage paperwork). Then she scolded me and said that she now has to redo all of her charting. About 30 minutes later we still had not been discharged, but the exam was done. I assumed I was waiting on the charting to be done or possibly for the x-ray to come back (which had been done about 45 minutes prior to this.

I then came out and asked if I could have my records, pay my bill and leave (we were there about 2.5 hours at this point. I was then told that I could not pay without being discharged and could not leave without paying. WHAT??? So the receptionist told me I just had to wait.

At this point I had enough and said there has to be some way I could leave and they couldn’t hold me there. The response was that it was busy and I would just have to deal with it.

Stunned, I went back to the room and the PA came in a couple minutes later to discharge me. I would advise not to go to this urgent care. I have been to others that are much more efficient and with competent staff.

  2. I will "never" take him to this place again.

I mean absolutely no empathy, and it didn’t help that the nurses and front desk staff were giggling like silly chickens during his vision examination. I heard one of them say, “What, does he not wear glasses” while still laughing.

He literally said to me, “I just won’t play any sports since I’m blind mom”. The PA-C and staff should feel extremely low for their behaviors today. I will “never” take him to this place again.

  3. Would give it zero stars if I could.

Would give it zero stars if I could. No sense of urgency. The receptionist with the clown makeup was inept. I took my daughter and left. We decided to go somewhere that cares about patients
