University Volkswagen

I NEVER received a return call

We purchased our VW golf here. When we picked the car up after a service the back up camera did not work. We had had the back up camera added before we purchased the car. When we took the car back in, we were told that the camera was added by another business and it could not be repaired here. That was the first we knew that the camera was added somewhere else.

We were told by the person at the desk in the service department that we had to contact a sales manager to pursue our concerns that the dealership should take responsibility for fixing the broken camera. A sales manager returned my call with a message that we would have to take it to the other business to get it repaired though it was under warranty.

I then left multiple messages requesting that the service department here check to see if the problem was just a disconnected wire, or that VW take the car to the distant location to get the camera fixed.

After all, we had no relationship with that business. I NEVER received a return call. I then sent an email to the dealership with the same request and asking for a return call. Again no response. Since then I have taken the car to the other business south of Renton and they treated me well. It was a problem with the cable not the camera and they fixed it.

Considering our car is one of those with VW rigged the emissions device, you would think they would have made an extra effort to be helpful. Instead, no response at all after the initial voicemail.

  1. Great staff

    Great staff, service and experience!

  2. I can't thank them enough.

Elizabeth and the team got me into my dream car. I can’t thank them enough.

  3. Having been to many a service counters at automotive dealers, I've had my share of horror stories

Having been to many a service counters at automotive dealers, I’ve had my share of horror stories. UVW made taking a car in for service a positive experience for me. For one, when you arrive, walk through the door, and your name is already on the wall-mounted ceiling monitors (some kind of license-plate recognition or IC chip witchcraft).

I am greeted (not just “next person, please”) and shown a loaner car to drive for the day. All throughout the day I am kept informed of the progress of the work via opted-in texts, and usually, the work is completed earlier than quoted. The ONE time that the work completion was delayed, UVW kept me informed every step of the way and I was in a loaner (fantastic cars, these) until I picked the car up.

Up until now, UVW carries me throughout the entire appointment and never lets my feet touch the ground until the work is done. No unnecessary fluff like the upper-crust dealers. Just the right amount of attention, information, service, and slack in the line for me to “carry on”

  4. Excellent service

Excellent service! Easy to schedule, work was done timely and shuttle service was great to downtown and back.

  5. Again, so refreshing and professional!

Brian Kelly was amazing to work with! I had a really terrible bait and switch experience at a local Jeep dealership so I was hestiant to go to another dealership and start the whole process over again.

I wanted a mid-sized SUV and read great reviews on the Tiguan so messaged the dealership. When I came to VW I cannot tell you how refreshing the whole experience was from my intital email to my in-person meeting.

I told Brian my budget and what I was looking for and he found me the perfect vehicle in my budget and did not try to constantly upsell me on a more expensive vehicle or added features. Again, so refreshing and professional!

The rest of the staff were also very kind and helpful through the process as well. Brian and team really made buying a new car enjoyable. I love my Tiguan and would highly recommend anyone to go to University Volkswagen for their next car or SUV.

  6. I will always buy my cars from these guys!

I had an amazing experience with AK and the rest of the extremely friendly and accommodating staff at the dealership. AK helped get me into a vehicle that I love and was patient and understanding with my situation. I will always buy my cars from these guys!

  7. We were looking at buying a pre owned Diesel VW.

We were looking at buying a pre owned Diesel VW. We had heard good things about University through the Biodiesel community. However, they did not have any pre-owned TDI wagons.

So,we found one over in Bellevue at the Green Car Company. University checked it out for us and they did an excellent job. The car checked out great and the service guys at University were very nice!!

  8. She's been there for years and I hope she stays for many more.

This is my first VW and I think I’m a lifer and now that I’ve learned from this experience and know what questions to ask and what to expect, I’ll buy my next one here too.

My experience buying my first financed car was pretty good. My sales rep, Eric, was friendly, and I never felt like he was trying to pull one over on me. Chris Brown (super nice guy by the way, don’t let the other negative review fool you – firm handshake and looks you in the eye) let me use a sales loaner too,

so I didn’t have to climb back into my 15 year old Accord while VW Credit processed my application. Honestly, the dealership felt like one big family. Oh, also, Becky in finance – I can’t say enough good things about her. She’s fast, detail-oriented, and very friendly. She’s been there for years and I hope she stays for many more.

  9. Very nice experience.

thank you for making what I thought was going to be a horrible all day event into a pleasant 2 hours out of my morning. Really appreciated being able to do most of the leg work via email in advance. Very nice experience.

  10. Bailey was amazing, super helpful and tried to make everything go as smoothly as possible.

Bailey was amazing, super helpful and tried to make everything go as smoothly as possible. There was a slight miscommunication between the sales managers, as I was in on a few different days and someone different was working each time, which resulted in a bit of a mixup regarding the agreed upon price but it was all resolved within half an hour. Overall, lovely environment.

  11. I was looking for CPO inventory

I was looking for CPO inventory, on a budget given my previous car unexpectedly quit on me. I received friendly, knowledgeable service and felt like I had an ally keeping an eye out for the right car. I’m quite happy with the result!

  12. The service on my car has been more good than bad.

It’s difficult to give just an accurate star rating, because my experiences with University have been up and down across the board. I bought a Jetta there in February of last year. I dealt with two sales people, Aron and Jared, both who were helpful, nice, and did not try to hard sell me. That’s a plus. Their manager, however, a man I believe named Larry, strikes me as a curt, stereotypical car salesman (more on him in a bit).

The service on my car has been more good than bad. The long wait times to get your car in for an appointment are sometimes frustrating but perhaps cannot be helped. The service has been good and friendly. I appreciate the passport service and loaner cars especially, including one time when I was given a ride directly to my office, despite being the only one needing the service.

  13. The manage is very rude too, bad experience!

After getting tired with the Ballard Volkswagen dealership, I decided to end my pain and switched to the University Volkswagon. And it is just the begining of another painful and expensive journey.

The service is slow, taking me 2 days to get my car. And to annoy me the most, my car has the engine light on again less than 3 months from the last time I made a thorough check and spend a ridicous amount of money at Univeristy Volkswagen. The manage is very rude too, bad experience!
