University Volkswagen

I NEVER received a return call

We purchased our VW golf here. When we picked the car up after a service the back up camera did not work. We had had the back up camera added before we purchased the car. When we took the car back in, we were told that the camera was added by another business and it could not be repaired here. That was the first we knew that the camera was added somewhere else.

We were told by the person at the desk in the service department that we had to contact a sales manager to pursue our concerns that the dealership should take responsibility for fixing the broken camera. A sales manager returned my call with a message that we would have to take it to the other business to get it repaired though it was under warranty.

I then left multiple messages requesting that the service department here check to see if the problem was just a disconnected wire, or that VW take the car to the distant location to get the camera fixed.

After all, we had no relationship with that business. I NEVER received a return call. I then sent an email to the dealership with the same request and asking for a return call. Again no response. Since then I have taken the car to the other business south of Renton and they treated me well. It was a problem with the cable not the camera and they fixed it.

Considering our car is one of those with VW rigged the emissions device, you would think they would have made an extra effort to be helpful. Instead, no response at all after the initial voicemail.

  1. He calls and is very rude.

He calls and is very rude. I tell him I won’t pay for these charges, I never authorized them. He says if I don’t, and don’t come pick up my car, he will charge me $45 a day for every day it is there. I am furious. Miles Davis is away on Christmas Holiday.

  2. I tell them to have him call me.

I go to pick up my car and they tell me I owe them $116 for their labor to find out what they did wrong!! I of course, refuse.

Philip makes us wait 20 minutes while he kicks back on the phone. We leave, and leave my car there. I tell them to have him call me.

  3. I could not recommend this business to anyone.

I thought the negative reviews about the conduct of the staff of this business could not be true, until I visited to buy a vehicle. The salesmen I dealt with, Sean, was very help full, however that was the only bright spot of my visit. The managers were obnoxious and had a sopranos type of attitude.

I felt like the manager was shaking me down for money. I could not recommend this business to anyone. However the sales people are very nice and knowledgeable, it’s a shame the management gives this business such a bad image.

  4. the service department will wash the car without me even asking!

I didn’t attempt to get another car wash for a few months, but when I did, I called ahead as asked, and the receptionist told me okay. When I got there, she called Larry over, and he talked to me again.

He started by saying that he had told me last time that that would be the last car wash, and I quickly corrected him (as the situation was now frustrating me), saying that I only needed to call ahead. He said fine, but that his staff were all busy and that there was a long line-up of cars to be washed already, neither of which I’m sure was true.

He said that he couldn’t help me then, but he gave me some free Brown Bear car wash coupons (his one plus and the one reason I didn’t make a bigger fuss). Again, the whole thing isn’t a big deal, except that the lesson learned was that the customer is WRONG,

and promise does not have to be honored if the person who made it no longer works there. The funny thing is when I am having a repair done, the service department will wash the car without me even asking!

  5. although I had a dirty feeling afterward.

Believe it or not, my biggest complaint is about a small thing, and not so much about the thing itself, but the way it has been handled. It echoes an earlier review that lamented the lack of honoring promises. Jared, one of the aforementioned salesmen, included as part of the car deal that I would receive ‘free car washes at the dealership for the life of the car’.

This was not going to make or break the deal for me, but it certainly is a good bonus, given the price of an average wash and how many times you might want one over the course of owning a car. I came in and got my car washed a few times after buying without complaint, but about the 4th or 5th time, the manager,

Larry, actually called me into his office and basically dressed me down about the car washes. He was not loud or mean, but I could definitely hear in his tone that he was annoyed with me. He explained that he knew Jared made the deal with me, but that Jared no longer worked there, and that when I wanted to get a car wash,

he had to pull a salesperson off the floor to do it, which was a ‘hassle’. He asked that I call ahead to see if I could get a car wash next time and I agreed, although I had a dirty feeling afterward.

  6. despite being the only one needing the service.

It’s difficult to give just an accurate star rating, because my experiences with University have been up and down across the board. I bought a 2007 Jetta there in February of last year. I dealt with two sales people, Aron and Jared, both who were helpful, nice, and did not try to hard sell me. That’s a plus. Their manager, however, a man I believe named Larry, strikes me as a curt, stereotypical car salesman (more on him in a bit).

The service on my car has been more good than bad. The long wait times to get your car in for an appointment are sometimes frustrating but perhaps cannot be helped. The service has been good and friendly. I appreciate the passport service and loaner cars especially, including one time when I was given a ride directly to my office, despite being the only one needing the service.

  7. Don't go here!

Don’t go here! They had my car for three days and never once called me, they did no diagnosis work over those three days and told me that the part I needed (they based this on my phone calls to them) was not available anywhere in Seattle.

I finally called it quits and took my VW Beetle to Import Dr.s downtown Seattle. They had the part the same day, and my car back to me that same day. Part and labor was less than UW VW quoted me for the part.

  9. After getting tired with the Ballard Volkswagen dealership

After getting tired with the Ballard Volkswagen dealership, I decided to end my pain and switched to the University Volkswagon. And it is just the begining of another painful and expensive journey. The service is slow, taking me 2 days to get my car.

And to annoy me the most, my car has the engine light on again less than 3 months from the last time I made a thorough check and spend a ridicous amount of money at Univeristy Volkswagen. The manage is very rude too, bad experience!

  11. Very disappointing and very expensive.

After a full, top of the range, inside and out detailing my sunroof developed a leak. I got new tires for my VW passat 4 x $160 apparently they’re the cheapest! I had a coolant leak. They informed me the leak was from the heater core and due to the position of the heater the cost of repair would be over $1000.

I wasn’t going to pay those prices on top of the very expensive tires but they charged my $60 for looking and telling me it was going to cost that much. I took my car home and found the leak a lot worse than it was, It was literally a constant stream where as before it was a slow drip.

I took my car to a friends place, we got my car on a ramp and had a look. The leak wasn’t with the heater core. We fixed the leak in about half an hour. I won’t be going back there. Very disappointing and very expensive.

  12. UNIVERSITY VOLKSWAGEN HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ONCE LEASE DEAL WAS INKED.

UNIVERSITY VOLKSWAGEN HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ONCE LEASE DEAL WAS INKED. Dealership seems to have gone Glengarry since our last lease with the same salesman(who mentioned his nice trips to Europe). University Volkswagen’s multi-million dollar dealership facelift looks good though.

My bad, I should of done due diligence and reviewed Yelp first – should of been a dick and even though I was there for over 4 hours(remember we had already lease before, same long time jobs, same house, etc..) and after 9 pm I should of taken another 30 to 40 minutes to look over each and every line of the multiple leasing contracts that were being printed out.

  13. I won't be coming back.

I purchased my car here in and have been using their service department exclusively. All has been well up until the last two visits. Had a major 80K service done on my Jetta in October and 10 miles down the freeway I had no brakes. Turns out a mechanic did not completely tighten a bleeder valve.

Had a valve recently replaced on the turbo to correct an oil leak and 10 miles down the same freeway my oil light is on. Turns out the mechanic had forgotten to check the oil after completing the job and I am down two quarts of oil. Two experiences with gross negligence and the free loaner cars are not worth the risk suffered to my life and car. I won’t be coming back.

  14. Their people skills are fucking horrible by the way Jeff u suck period

I drive all the way from West Seattle to get my cars oil change done here because I trust them. I am not a happy customer today it’s going to be about 2 hour wait for my oil change and I wanted to use a loaner to go down the street . I guess they have no loaner cars , this is a dealership hello why don’t they have any .

So when I asked Jeff about it he said nope sorry no loaner cars that was it . Their customer service sucks they just don’t care to take care of u at all … so now I have to wait almost 30 minutes for a freaken shuttle to go down the damn street. They need to teach their people some customer service cause they suck … not a happy camper what’s so ever .

I think I will take it to another VW dealership due to not taking care of a customer … it’s not what You say it’s how u say it and the way Jeff said is like sorry I don’t give a shit . Their people skills are fucking horrible by the way Jeff u suck period …
