Thrifty Propane

Thrifty Propane kept us waiting

I saw the advertisement from Thrifty Propane about the lower prices for the refurbished tank and fill.

I was happy about the purchase as the advertised price was quite common, and I thought I would spend the entire winter with my order.

So, I ordered both from Thrifty Propane in Aug 2015.

When I tried to order, they asked me to pay in advance to make the delivery fastest as there were many orders pending the ones with advance payment would be given priority.

I made the payment.

However, they also added that the delivery was not possible before September.

I was ready to wait by then. But, the tank and fill never came, and September was about to finish. So, I called the customer center of Thrifty Propane.

With a lot of struggle and long queues, I reached someone live. I told him about the issue and wanted an explanation.

I live with my sister, and we both are senior citizens.

That guy told me that they are facing problems with the shortage of drivers and the latest delivery they can schedule was for 22nd October 2015.

He hung up and did not care to know what I had to say. We did not know what to do and decided to wait until then.

In the meantime, we started using an electric heater. I was waiting for 22nd October, and it was getting difficult to stay in that cold weather.

We also were sick and had to consult a doctor for antibiotics. 22nd October came and went, and there was no delivery sign.

I was distraught and felt helpless. I again started trying to contact the customer care number, but I was not able to reach a live person this time.

However, I was able to get a representative from the online chat option on their website.

This person informed me that the delivery guy had some personal emergency and was not available, and he did not give any date as well. I was frustrated and discussed it with my sister.

We decided to contact Better Business Bureau.

Maybe they could pressurize Thrifty Propane into making arrangements for our tank and fill delivery. I was not so sure about that decision, but we had no other option.

It was getting difficult every other day to survive in that weather, but Thrifty Propane was not ready to deliver the reimbursement. I wanted my order delivered to my door.

Otherwise, I wanted my money. We have few savings and nothing much to get another tank and fill somewhere else. And we wanted the money badly.

They got us with the false advertisement, and they never wanted to deliver our order.

I am going to try until I get the solution for this. I have spent $1000 to date on demand and my medical expenses, which seem nothing to Thrifty Propane.

Thrifty Propane is the worst company I have done business with, and I will never repeat this mistake.

I wish I had googled about their bad reviews and lawsuits ????

  1. Not the first time OAG sued this company

Research this. You’ll find it goes all the way back to 2016.
This company is being sued for the second time by the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. They also had the guts to sue the Ohio Gas Association and the OAGO for defamation. Of course they lost.
    My question is this-
After their first lawsuit they were instructed on how to legally conduct business in the state of Ohio. They were “reprimanded “ in 2018 for not abiding by the court rules… but they continued to do business.
Our taxes pay the Ohio Attorney General to protect our consumer rights?
Our family paid for gas we did not receive, my husband is a disabled veteran, I work two jobs, and we had two children in college. Wel will never see our money.
Shame on those that allowed this to happen.

  2. Thrifty Propane's failed service commitments

I contacted Thrifty Propane by emailing them as they are horrible at answering the advertisements phone number. I ordered propane which was confirmed on a touch signature email and now we are at 16 work days and 23 calendar days with no pre bought and paid for propane. I emailed Thrifty Propane on work day 15 at 3:15 in the afternoon asking for a delivery ETA and was sarcastic responded back with the day was over with yet. Now at work day 16 and still no delivery. Thrifty Propane will not respond to my emails or answer the provided phone number. They take your money within minutes of the order but fail to provide thier product as promised. Highly disappointed with Thrifty Propane. I don’t believe the price savings are worth the service headaches the Thrifty Propane fails to commit to.

  3. scam

i have vary bad experience with thrifty they are cheaters take money before delivery never come on time cheat you in the gallons my advice to people stay way these crooks it’s almost two months they took money and they dont want to deliver gas noor refund i need to find a lawyer to sue them so they can stop this scamming

  4. Thrifty propane WILL RIP YOU OFF

In 2019 (BEFORE), I read reviews on companies. I ordered a tank & fuel package (pre-buy) from the thrifty long story short/ they have shut down the delivery hubs close to where I live. The nearest to me now is 80 miles.

They still owe me 1,218.70 gallons. I asked that to save them the trouble of hauling down here if they would cancel the deal and give me my money, they said sure FOR A CANCELATION FEE & only pay me 50 cents a gallon. When I ordered my last fill (01/14/21), they said that it was May 15 days.

It’s (02/4/22 STILL no propane now we’re under a level 3. So I guess that will give them another reason. And I think that the BBB protects them, and the BBB can’t pressure them to make things right. So don’t waste your time & money with THRIFTY PROPANE or the BBB…

  5. Review of Thrifty Propane

I was a previous employee. Bill Maloof, aka (consultant), owned an earlier propane company called Level Propane.

He was sued and, in a court of law, cannot deliver propane to residential houses EVER! The company is in his wife’s name Angela Maloof, but don’t be fooled he runs the company.

He is a very devious man and will screw over his mother given a chance. I would not deal with this company ever.

It would help if you looked up all the lawsuits against the Maloofs before you decide to give them your money.

They will take your money but getting fuel in winter is difficult because of many delivery issues (trucks pulled from the junkyard and used for delivery or not enough money to buy propane to fill customers’ tanks).

If you are a current customer and have a pre-buy, they have 15 business days to deliver your propane, or you can call the Attorney General, and they will be fined.

Now the way they work around that is they will deliver 100 gallons and have you call in again to come back out which gives them another 15 days to get more propane to you.

If you do not have a pre-buy and place an order they have 5 business days to fill your tank or you can call the Attorney General.

They can get fined up to $ 1,000 per complaint.

Complaints will get their attention. If you look at the BBB complaints they have dodged many complaints this year saying that drivers had covid and they could not cover the territory that is total BS no driver for the company has had covid.

Just use your common sense, read the reviews and save yourself a big headache, go somewhere else.

  6. Will not answer the phone or call you back

Ordered propane over a month ago. I have tried calling every number, extension, e mail, chat everything. No response, no idea if they are going to deliver my fuel or not.

  7. A total rip off they failed to send propane after paid in full 4 weeks

The worst company ever. They will sign you up fast but will not come thru with the service. It is terrible.

We already prepaid over $1200 and as for a refill only have to wait over four weeks, and we are so low we can’t use our heat and use only the woodstove.

They are terrible ripping off people who don’t have the money to play these life-threatening games with heat. They won’t answer the phone, email, or contact the contact website. They are the worst.

Disaster. I have done 100s of reviews, and most are 4 and 5 stars, but this is the worst company ever.

    Paul
