TDECU’S online payment system is impossible to navigate through to make a payment.

Today I go in to the bank to make a payment on my loan to avoid the $10 “convenience” fee they charge to make a payment on the phone.

They inform me “we can longer take checks or ATM cards for payments, but “you could use our ATM to withdraw cash and make a payment sir at a small fee”.

Literally THE WORST BANKING experience you’ll ever have. Steer clear of them.

I’m sure next time I go to make a payment they will tell me “sir, there’s a convenience fee for not sending us a telegram that you were coming to make a payment, if you used Western Union we cannot accept that either.

You’d have to send a written request to make a payment by Pony Express, wait for our relply, then show up at your scheduled ‘make a payment meeting’ then any bills larger than $20 would require an additional fee for authentication! Have a great day”

I mean good Lord it’s the 21st century TDECU!

  1. Over a hour just to get a payoff on my loan ,business is a joke never ever use this place to borrow money

  2. Obviously the people inside had no idea what was going on in their drive thru nor did they care.

    I quickly finished the deposit slip and put my ID and card in the carrier with the deposit. I honked my horn a little bit and held the carrier out so that the teller could see it. There was no response. I continued to honk and wave the carrier outside of my car window for at least five minutes. I was getting more and more upset as time went by thinking about the overdraft that I could not afford.

    After several minutes, I was very upset, nearly in tears and it dawned in me that I was stuck with the carrier. They were not going to wait on me or allow me to return their carrier. I kept trying to get their attention so I could return the carrier, but I never got any response. I decided to take it with me and return it first thing Monday morning. I looked for a place to hide in my car as I didn’t want anyone to see it and think I stole it.

    I could not find any place in the car where it would fit. I tried to put it on the shelf where the slips were kept, but it would not fit. So then I pulled forward again to the air tube and I heard a woman’s irritated voice telling me in a snide manner that they were closed. Obviously the people inside had no idea what was going on in their drive thru nor did they care.

    By this time I was so angry I left the carrier on a narrow ledge in front of the air tube, and drove off with it teetering and about to fall. The TDECU employees and the security guard were so out of line that day!

  3. Do NOT ever use this institution unless you desire grey hair.

    If I could give no stars, I would. This is the biggest gong show I’ve ever experienced in my life! It is just one issue after another after another. They forgot to pay our insurance out of our escrow account. They reported that we had missed a payment when we never have.

    They basically said oops our bad. They offer no restitution..and when it came to hurricane Harvey, they had nothing in place to help their clients at all. They refused to delay our payment without modifying our entire mortgage!!!! Do NOT ever use this institution unless you desire grey hair.

  4. my position on tdecu is that you are not what you once were and you stink

    I am not a happy camper.TDECU service is terrible..took thirty minutes to do a simple address change…then found out that the Woodlands branch did not turn in my order for checks..then tried to blame me and told me I could order on line or they would send them to the Woodlands branch for me to pickup..

    I asked for them to find out why the order wasn’t turned in and they would not do it..I have done business with you for many years have three accounts ,a credit card and a loan with you.For the first time I am considering taking my business else where .my position on tdecu is that you are not what you once were and you stink

    Horrible. The amazing thing about all these bad reviews is that they keep getting worse, my loan from 2015 has been bewildering with all of the online security UPGRADES? , last month I spent 3 hours just trying to just pay my auto loan bill online, asking me security questions completely irrelevent to me,

    then shutting down the account so i have to call your lame customer service.THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO STAY AWAY FROM TDECU. I will be refinancing with another bank immediatly even if it costs.. And shame on you Ron Carter for using such a crappy credit union, will not purchase another vehicle from you ever.

    They are a joke. The only reason they even made it was because they were local to Dow Chemical in Freeport. They are so slow and behind in technology is rediculous. Their services are a joke, their %’s, etc. etc. So much wrong with this company.

    But, they can thank Dow back in the 80’s and 90’s for their success. Otherwise, they would have failed miserably with the team they assembled, and still have working. They are not problem solvers. They follow the actual credit union problem solvers… but they are still 10 years behind in offerings. Good luck.
