Roosevelt Vision

Nobody is perfect especially Dr. Michael Samek

Terrible. I’ve never worn glasses before. I went in for my first exam in November because of blurriness in my left eye. Dr. Michael Samek wrote a prescription for a small correction in my right eye and no prescription in the left. I asked him why, if I’m experiencing blurred vision in my left eye, he was only proscribing correction for my right eye. He replied that my right eye was straining to focus and causing the left eye to go out of focus.

I purchased glasses from Warby Parker because the glasses were cheaper ($95) from them out of pocket than at Roosevelt Vision (RV) using my insurance. When I got my glasses, vision in my left eye was still blurry. After wearing my glasses for over a week, vision in my left eye was still blurry. I went back to RV. This time, Dr. Michael Samek found astigmatism in my left eye. He did not apologize or offer any explanation as to why he missed it the astigmatism first time around.

I explained to the front desk staff that I purchased glasses based on a flawed prescription. Their suggestion was to see if Warby Parker would redo the lenses for me. I met with the optician to see if RV could make the new lenses and put them in my Warby frames. They said they could, but even though my insurance covers lenses, it would still be $105 out of pocket. When I explained that I purchased glasses based on Dr. Samek’s mistaken prescription, the optician blamed me for giving the wrong answers during the first exam.

Nobody is perfect. But RV and Dr. Samek are not a big enough to admit when they’ve made a mistake and make amends. Their response to their mistakes is to blame the patient. I’ll call Warby Parker and see if they can help. I’ll post an update and I talk with them.

  1. Do not trust this guy.

I was a patient there for 15 years, in that time I likely referred about 7 people including other family memebers. The service was usually pretty good, the optitions are great and always helpful/ A bit over a year ago they hired a new doctor speciallizing 9n glaucoma.

They had purchased the testing equipment and went about calling patients they felt were at risk to helppay for their investment. I got the call, asked what the expense would be and they refused to tell me, I wass told that i should take that up with my insurance Co..

“Let’s schedule it while you check with your insurance co.”, I said that would be fine, I had no luck with the insurance company so I later called to cancel the appt.

  2. Best Service Provide.

My son before me and now I also have been going to Roosevelt Vision for many years. Not only are they professional and offer a great service and product; they are human and helped me through some trying times after cataract surgery. Thanks so much folks!!

  3. The customer service at this office is horrible!

The customer service at this office is horrible! The last two times I have ordered contacts the orders have been delayed 3 weeks. My phone calls are not returned and when I call the office they usually sound confused and try to blame other staff members. The contact lens specialist is never available to speak with and they have over billed me several times. Unnacceptable!!!

  4. which is part of why we kept going back.

Difficult to make an appointment at convenient times. Dr. was very late for appointment. Added services for additional cost, presented like an upsell, very weird for a doctors office. In the market for new eye doctor. Upside is the clinic seems very involved in the community and I think that is a plus, which is part of why we kept going back.

  5. Roosevelt Vision is Scam.
