Rapid Tax & Financial ServicesRapid Tax ripped me off and did not filed the tax on time
I was one day late from filing the Arizona Tax Return. Hence, I contacted Rapid Tax & Financial Services for filing the tax on my behalf. I filled their online form and requested for helping me out with the tax filing. I made the online payment of $35 as well.
After a week, when I did not get any response, I emailed them twice about the problem. But, I did not receive any response. I tried to find out their phone number. Before this time, I had not spoken to anyone in person.
I contacted my credit card company for the receipt of payment that was made through their website. From there, I got their number and contacted them. A person Dan received my call. Before he received my call, the call bounced a few times and was also put on a long hold after which I had to disconnect. When Dan answered, he at least listened to my issue.
He put me on hold for gathering information. I let him do that, I did not have much choice, did I? After checking into his computer for few minutes, he took me online and informed that his company was not authorized to E-file tax with the state of Arizona.
Hence, I asked him for a refund and said that I would like my amount to be paid back. However, instead of answering my question, he dodged it.
He, then informed me that his company had already sent me an email with that information which I did not receive. When I tried to disapprove his claim, he said that he would again send the mail to me. And, this time, I got in straight into my inbox. He did not even verify the details to eliminate any possibility of a wrong address.
I am not sure, why I did not receive it earlier. Anyway, I checked the mail. There was an attachment in the email with a copy of partly filled Arizona Tax form 140. However, the preparation date was something that captured my attention. The form was filled on the same date, I spoke to Dan. If the email was sent earlier as well, why the preparation date was of that day itself.
After having enough dealing with Dan and the company, I called the state of Arizona to report them about this company.
They said that the company was not authorized to file tax to the state. They sent me new form and I had to fill and mail them the same, all by myself.
The person from the Tax department, whom I spoke with, suggested that this could be a scam. But, did not tell what to do with the situation I put me into. Hence, I am reporting the incident here. This would help others to understand the company and its unethical means of scamming people. This is a scam and stay away from this company.
