Portland Housing Center

Wast Of Time

Portland Housing Center is a waste of time. They don’t offer anything more than a mortgage broker, actually less as the loan officer is unwilling to do anything to facilitate the loan.

The programs they promote on their website and classes don’t exist and the loan officer claims she Mdoesn’t work for Portland Housing Center but some other entity she doesn’t identify.

This appears to be a way to get business for a brokerage and not a very good one at that.

  1. We were able to meet great a Real Estate Agent and Loan Officer through them.

The Portland Housing Center is great! They helped us buy our 1st house in Feb. We took their Home Buying 101 class and Financial Fitness Classes. We were able to meet great a Real Estate Agent and Loan Officer through them.

  2. Yay Portland Housing Center!!

The Portland Housing Center helped me through the whole process of buying my first home and I am deeply grateful to all of the staff there. I learned about the process from budgeting my income, how to read my credit report to what different loans are and what kind of house I could afford.

They referred me and my partner to an excellent realtor who showed us around 30 houses until we found our first home! The Portland Housing Center helped me through the entire process, I definitely recommend going there, going to the classes and getting into the gov’t Saving Matched program, I got $3000 for saving $1000 toward my down payment! Yay Portland Housing Center!!

  3. My husband and I paid the fee and sat down with an adviser.

My husband and I paid the fee and sat down with an adviser. While he explained how to improve our credit, he also told us numerous things we needed to do before we applied for a home. It turns out talking to a lender was more informative and free.

The lender let us know what the best plan of action was to keep our credit score high, what debt looks best to pay down first, and what programs we qualified for and how to go about getting them. They also sat down and taught us what we needed to know going into the process.
