Pesta & Pesta Tax Preparation
Pesta And Pesta Were Unreliable, Unethical And UnprofessionalA friend recommended me to this CPA, and it was my worst tax experience. This was many years ago.
It was probably mid-March that year when we met.
Although I’m not sure which Pesta did my taxes, it appears that the other one showed up late and smelled of alcohol at our first meeting.
Although this should have been a warning, I chose to continue. (No) Thanks for the referral.
We go over all details and decide to send him the return when it’s complete before April 15th.
I called him several times as 4/15 drew closer, but he didn’t respond.
It was 4/15, and there was no news. This became a nightmare because I didn’t know what was happening with my return.
I also didn’t have any tax documents (he had them all). I will be able to handle this myself.
Turbo-tax quickly calculated my taxes, and I filed for an extension to make sure I didn’t have to pay penalties. I was furious.
I called their office the next day to voice my dissatisfaction, and I got my paperwork back.
I was able to have my return completed by another more qualified CPA.
He was friendly and sweet this time, and he gave me explanations and reasons and asked me to give it another chance.
He had all my papers and personal information, so I decided to keep going with him.
When the return was complete, I returned to my home to collect it. He told me that he was upset that I hadn’t paid more for charitable donations.
Although he was not a CPA trying to maximize my return, he made this comment in his capacity.
I still don’t understand why he behaved so badly to this day. It could be his usual style or something about my return that upset him.
The comment he made at the end could also be an argument for the former.
Conclusion: Pesta and Pesta were unreliable and unethical, and I would not recommend them.
