People’s United Bank

The Worst Bank

People’s United Bank is one of the worst banks in New England.

They have terrible customer service, high fees, and are difficult to deal with.

My most recent problem was with an HSA account.

They flagged it as fraudulent but didn’t let me know.

I found out when I couldn’t purchase a prescription.

When I called I was put on hold with the fraud department twice for over an hour only to have the agent hang up on me, twice.

Save time and frustration and work with a different, competent bank.

I have told the bank I use 3-4 times a week and the fraud department I was going on a trip. and they still don’t get that you use your debit card to book reservations and you have the money to. THEY DENI ALL TRANSACTIONS ALL THE TIME. WHAT A BUNCH OF NIMRODS.

People’s United Bank is a terrible atmosphere of dismissive reps and disorganized managers. Joel, at the New Haven branch, is a forgetful and dishonest manager who screwed up my account several times. Its been a constant headache dealing with People’s United Bank and I would recommend people go elsewhere for reliable banking.

People’s United Bank allowed someone to cash one of my checks. I filed the appropriate paperwork, and was never contacted. They completely ignored the fraud, did not return my messages.

Ever since they started expanding, they lost sight of good business practices. A few years back a teller put my $900 deposit into the person’s account that was ahead of me in line. After over $200 in overdraft fees, I found the erroneous receipt with someone else’s bank number on my deposit.

There was never an apology, and that guy got to keep a free $900 because of their errors. It took DAYS for them to fix this, and they refused to acknowledge the error unless I had proof. FOOLS! ALL OF THEM!

  3. I gave them one star because there was no way to give no stars and still write a review.

I gave them one star because there was no way to give no stars and still write a review. BTW, to the reviewer “CJ” I would not say “probably hacking”,i can tell you they are hacked constantly.

I have to change my bank card every year or two due to their system being hacked. Then they lie about it and make some obscure comment about how your card may have been compromised through some merchant. Really? Which one?
