Optumhealth Bank

Customer Service

forms this morning for my Health Savings Account. I didn’t remember my password so I hit the button for ‘Forgot / Change Password’.

I filled out the information requested and waited for a link to be sent to my email.

No reset link was ever sent. I then tried to log in again with another password option.

I was given the prompt ‘temporary password has expired’ and that I must call into this Customer Support #.

I call into the Customer Support # only for them to inform me that I really needed to call into this other #.

They transferred me, verifying name, social security #, and birthdate each time.

However when they asked me questions about the account that I couldn’t answer (because I can’t get into my account), they informed me that there was nothing they could do.

Soooooo, now I will just never be able to have access to my account? Of course I asked to speak to a supervisor.

After several minutes a supervisor came on the line and said they could get me into my account but would need a call back # and that once somebody could call me back at that # they would be able to reset my password.

Three hours later, I still had not received a call back and had to make a third call to Optum.

Thankfully the woman I spoke to was bright and able to finally get me into my account. I can’t believe getting a password reset is this complicated and so time consuming!

  1. Terrible company

You are so right! I am going through the same thing now! They will hold your money and you can’t find anyone to talk to other than the reps.

  2. STEALING money

WHO AND WHAT ATTORNEY WOULD START A LAWSUIT? IM PAYING INTO MY EMPLOYER AND OPTUM BANK ISNT POSTING MY $. THEY ARE STEALING IT WHO CAN HELP?

  3. REFUSES TO REIMBURSE ANYTHING

Optum bank refuses to approve any reimbursement claims. I have an OCB transit account and an FSA (flexible spending account) with them through my employer. I was laid off in April due to COVID and am trying to get my money out of these accounts. They cancelled the debit card the day I was laid off, despite the fact that my own money is still in the account.

I submitted receipts totaling $50 from adding money to my transit card (clipper card in the Bay Area, CA) and they haven’t responded to my reimbursement in nearly 2 months.

I also submitted a $330 payment for methadone treatment to get reimbursed from my FSA. I was told by one representative that a receipt from the methadone clinic would be sufficient but after providing that receipt and a letter of medical necessity, they are giving me the runaround telling me they need to know exactly what the payment covered and not just that a payment was made to an authorized medical provider that is explicitly covered under the approved uses of the FSA.

Optum is a huge scam trying to steal all your money, do NOT do business with them

  4. Embarrassing Company to do business with

Never in my 28 year career have I experienced such an unprofessional organization that makes it so difficult to work with from the beginning of a customer relationship and with every single interaction. Truly can not wait to stop working with them. Poor service and makes their customers jump through hoops when all other competing companies are a pleasure to work with. I’m puzzled as to how they are still in business and why don’t companies do their research before hiring them. I dream about the end of the contract so I can end my relationship with them.

    Good luck and Beware

  5. Tried to pay claims with checks, 2 of them, they claim they never got. Not on day 5 of trying to get approved to pay with my checking. Tons of other problems. I’m looking for a class action against them. Let me know [email protected], google for more info i’m publishing on them.Their BBB is horrible almost 2k complaints. Don’t use these people. Fred Schafer is supposedly trying to help me but to no avail. It’s claim is three days to approve checking so I can pay 2 of my claims. I’m on day five now….. Never let anyone save for you. Do it yourself. Gain self control in your life.

  6. Never Again

I, too, had my HSA sold to Optum bank from Wells Fargo and Optum’s website is consistently giving me ‘system errors’ trying to setup up one time and recurring deposit options!

As a newcomer to their service, if simply using their website is this problematic I am pretty concerned about what’s going to happen when I have to actually use them to pay a medical bill.

  7. The bank's web site really, really sucks.

The bank’s web site really, really sucks. Almost every time I log in to do any transactions I’m faced with the “We apologize, our system is experiencing technical difficulties at this time…” message if I try to set up a payment to a provider, add or edit a payee, etc.

It’s really frustrating because I have to remind myself to roll the dice and try another day in order to pay medical bills. I have no idea where the monthly account maintenance fee goes but it certainly doesn’t go to the web site. If you can avoid it – don’t use this bank for your HSA. Seriously. Don’t do it.
