Northstar Funding

The Worst Experiences

I am a real estate broker and work with mortgage banks and brokers all the time.

My experience with William Kumpf was the worst experience I have ever had in my entire career, which even prompted me to write a my first ever review here.

I was assisting my client with his refinance. He was under pressure to close within 30 days.

William has offered the best rate of all the brokers I contacted and assured me that we would close in 30 days.

The loan took almost five (5!!!!) months and of course…. a week before closing the rate turned out to be half a point higher that originally quoted.

Nobody explained the rate increase. Joe never bothered to assist.

Excruciatingly painful and disappointing experience.

William rarely answers his phone, you have to text him. He never replies to texts either.

The only way to reach him was to call the main office number on his website and hope he picks up the phone.

Then his response would be: I call you right back and he never would.

Loan closers changed 3 times. Nobody kept track of documents needed or received.

I was forced to resend every document several times.

Then documents started to expire because of the time to took to close to I had to start all over.

We even had to do the appraisal twice. In the end I was basically doing the loan directly with the bank.

Stay away from Northstar Funding. I can’t imagine how these guys even stay in business.

  1. Appraisal not done in favor of predatory loan

I recently purchase bare land at  Garnerville Nv.’for $35,000.

The purchase  offer I made had an appraisal contingency, as well as the loan required one.

These were accepted by the seller.

The loan discussed with me was $21,000 @ %10 due in 2 years with a late fee no more than %10 of the payment.

Payment to be $969.04 per mo.

Buried in the disclosure fine print was multiple fees.

The loan disclosures required an appraisal, a loan application and a credit report

The lenders signed off without an appraisal, I was not informed of this change.

The realtor nor loan agent never ordered an appraisal.

I was never informed of this lapse/ change in the contract.

They simply sent over forms for me to sign off.

These had been presented as all items  checked and filled.

I proceeded under the impression that the appraisal had been done and met the lenders approval.

My est. cost to close even had a line item cost of $700 for the appraisal.

By removing the appraisal from the process. I have been wronged.

Had the property not appraised for $35,000, I would have had the right to walk away or renegotiate.

The total cost of the loan was never verbally discussed, the agreement only appeared at signoff.

Many fees appeared, large and small. a fee for extra payments is really a prepayment penalty.

The signing was a typical sign this, sign that. No time to read, and by that time I was pretty much legally committed to the deal.

I have a head injury that makes reading a bit difficult.

I saw in the disclosures the items discussed, however the fees not discussed evaded me,

I believe the appraisal was not done due to the fact that the last 2 sales of lots in this neighborhood were at $25,000.

If it was appraised the loan/ deal would have fallen apart.

    1. This is the wrong Northstar, I clicked the wrong one please remove this . The folks I dealt with are in Nevada.

  2. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!

DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME with this lender!
I was assigned a rep who had all our necessary documents uploaded online within 2 days who took over 1 month, 1 WHOLE MONTH, to present it to underwriting to get approval! I called and left over 10 messages to his direct number to followup, but got only 1 message back just before the month ended! He initially sounded polite and helpful, but in the end he didn’t know what he was doing and never communicated anything was missing from our application.
Needless to say, we lost the property due to the length of time waiting for an answer. I should have realized from the calls not being returned, that this company was very unprofessional and disorganized!

  3. I would recommend them to anyone and would use them again.

I had been trying for a long time to find a lender to help me and zi did when I found Northstar Lending. Jess is wonderful and so was Rhodora was aswell they made it possible for us to get the Right mortgage and the right home for us. I would recommend them to anyone and would use them again.

  4. I'll be a life long customer and will refer friends and family.

Dealing with Northstar Funding was stress free, convenient, and they are so efficient at their job. There were no surprises, everything that was broken down when it came to closing cost were spot on when that date came. The service is phenomenal,

they returned phone calls late thru the night and answered questions thru email very fast. These people are the best experience I’ve had when dealing with banks and brokers with previous refinances and purchases, I’ll be a life long customer and will refer friends and family.

    1. Wrong Company Review - Not Affiliated with William Kumpf

      Hello Karina,
William Kumpf is not an employee of Northstar Funding. I have been trying to get him to stop using my company in his marketing material. His website is not affiliated with Northstar Funding and he is not employed by us. I also looked in our email serves and there is not one email correspondence between you and anyone at our company. This leads me to believe that he probably took your loan to a different company but you are seeing his false advertising using my company name, so you think Northstar was somehow involved. I can assure you that we have had no dealings with you, William Kumpf or any clients of his so I would appreciate it if you would remove Northstar Funding from your review because we had nothing to do with any loan involving William Kumpf. If you look at the Closing Statement you will see the name of the Lender and the Broker and Northstar Funding will not be listed in any closing statement. Feel free to call me on my cell phone if you have any questions or concerns because I would like to hear more about what happened so I can continue my efforts to stop his false advertising.. 914-629-2444 Joe Pisa

    2. Please read our reviews on Google and Yelp for more of an accurate description of a typical experience with Northstar Funding

      Hello Dirtyscam Support,
Please assist us in making sure the information about our company is accurate. I replied to a message posted by Karina Holmes who wrote a review about my company. I appreciate an open forum for people to share their opinions if the forum vets the information for accuracy before just posting it. This review has nothing to do with my company and I have tried to reach out to Karina to have her remove it. She says in her review that she referred someone to William Kumpf, not Northstar Funding. Since William Kumpf is not an employee of my company then how could she have referred someone to Northstar Funding? This makes no sense. Please have someone contact Karina for a more accurate statement and ask her to point her review toward William Kumpf because William Kumpf has been falsely using my company name for years and I would like to use this as further proof to continue my efforts to stop his false advertising. We have been in business for 12 years and our reviews on Google and Yelp Speak for themselves. I urge everyone to do their homework on Northstar Funding because I’m sure you will find Karina Holmes review is not indicative of the service Northstar Funding gives to their clients. Feel Free to reach me directly if you have any questions or concerns.

      Thank you for your time.
