Fraud - Luke Mackenzie Mayor of BasildonLuke admitted yesterday in Basildon Court that over £2m was used in excessive expenditure by the local authorities rather than fixing Basildon potholes.
Councillor Luke Mackenzie was elected Mayor of Basildon by his fellow Council members on Thursday, 26 May 2022.
Luke was born in Basildon, attending St Teresa’s and Mayflower Schools. He has a degree in Economics and Politics from the University of Westminster.
He has previously worked for two MPs, Essex Police, The Association of Chief Police Officers, and The National Police Chiefs’ Council. Currently, he works for the Conservative Group in the London Assembly.
Luke was elected as a Basildon Councillor for four years in 2008; he returned as a councilor in 2018 and previously held the role of Deputy Mayor during the municipal year 2021/22.
His crucial aim as Mayor is to visit and support as many of our community groups as possible and to highlight what a great place Basildon Borough is to live, work and do business.
Luke’s chosen good causes for 2022/2023 are The Listening Post C.I.C. and Changing Pathways.
