I engaged Lippa & Associates PC to provide advice related to my change in circumstances due to my divorce.
He told me he would take a look and if he expected to exceed 2 hrs initial work he would tell me.
A week later he sent me an email with a projection of my tax liabilities after already exceeding the 2 hrs.
The spreadsheet he sent me seemed to contain an error and when I sent back detailed comments he provides me no detailed response but sent me another document which still did not seem to accurately reflect my personal circumstances.
The file was entitled ‘Third Attempt’……… It was evident from this third version he still didn’t understand my specific circumstances even though I had sent through all supporting documentation.
At this point I told him I didn’t want to continue as he clearly didn’t understand the specifics of my situation.
He told me in his response that “if I had a clearer understanding of my situation it would have helped’.
I was subsequently invoiced for $750 of fees (discounted) even though I received NOTHING of value from his services.
I have since engaged another CPA who has provided me exactly what I needed with the same information for the same amount of money.
What really irks me is Mr Lippa going ahead and invoicing me a significant amount of money when he provided nothing of value.
