Farmers Insurance

Farmers never paid me for the insurance claim

I was in a restaurant eating my lunch with my friend. My car was parked close to the restaurant lawn which was supposed to be its parking space. I had bought a new Mercedes. My car was insured and was in great condition. As I said, it was brand new, so there was not even a single scratch. When I came out of the restaurant, I found damages to the hood of my new car. I checked and found out that the damages were done by the lawnmover which one of the employees of restaurant was handling.

I complained it to the manager of the restaurant. At first, she did not accept it. I asked her to play the CCTV footage from the camera installed right at the parking lot. After few people getting into the matter, the manager ran the footage and it became even clearer that the damages were caused by the lawnmover.

Although, it was not intentional, but still was wrong. The manager told that she would hook me up with her insurance agent from Farmers and would help me claim for the damage. After such an experience, I was already exhausted. I did not go for work and reached home. The manager as promised, contacted me with her agent’s number.

I called the company and contacted the agent, Katrina. I tried to reach her 5-6 times and every time, she gave me an excuse of ignoring my call. Finally, when I did not stop, she asked me to get estimates from couple of dealers and mail her the amount. I did as she asked me to do. The dealer quoted me $1800. The same amount, I forwarded to the Farmers insurance.

Katrina told that the estimate was too high, and she sent me an appraiser to check the car condition and find the amount to be dispersed. The person came and after looking at my car, informed me that those were previous road rash scratches.

So, they approved $750 for the claim and asked me to contact my insurance company to get the remaining amount. It would have increased my amount, and wasn’t justified either. So, I refused and asked them to check the CCTV footage themselves. When I turned call to the manager, she told that the records are deleted after every few days, so she did not have it.

All in all, I was scammed. The company refused to pay, and I had to make out the maximum of the worst. So, I took the deal and paid the difference amount. Without a mistake, I paid $1000 from my pocket.

Farmers is the worst insurance company. Do not ever get your cars insured from these guys and wish that no other guy with Farmers insurance happen to damage your car. In both cases, you would be paying for the disaster.
