A few years ago, I went to the smirky Dr. Roy Kim to have a cyst removed from my back.
When he met me at the hospital to perform the surgical procedure, he told me he was late for another appointment.
After rushing me into a hospital gown, he then haphazardly removed my cyst as quickly as possible, sewed me up like I was some random piece of cattle … and left.
This took little more than five minutes.
A dark, raised keloid scar soon formed. When I told Dr. Kim about this, he said it was because there are certain people (me being one of them) that easily form these scars.
This could be PARTIALLY true. However, I feel that his sloppy and frenetic surgical work also contributed to the scarring.
I’ve had a cyst removed before … and it did not leave behind a nasty keloid.
Dr. Kim decided to deflate my raised scar with two cortisone shots, which he ROUGHLY injected me with; couldn’t figure out if he was simply on a power trip or just naturally ungainly.
Soon, my scar deflated into a sunken crater, the size of a quarter.
So – to sum up this review: I went in to get a cyst removed (the most MINOR of surgeries) … and was first left with an ugly keloid, then injected with cortisone, which has now left it appearing like I have a hole in my back.
And guess what! The cyst has returned!

dr kim and his staff are Not very friendly
dr kim and his staff are very friendly…. the office is small and cozy, which i actually prefer- if it means the staff is more “humble” (they are!) i went to a few consultations prior to choosing dr kim – none of which were horrible but i felt most comfortable with dr kim and his staff.
(not to mention, his prices were the lowest- that was a plus!) i loved that he gave an unbiased opinion and left all decisions ultimately up to me. he did an awesome job and i am so happy with my results. caroline was so helpful in explaining (to a T) what to expect before and after the surgery.
if you’re thinking about getting breast augmentation done, you should schedule a consult with dr kim and caroline. only you will know which dr makes YOU feel comfy- check him out to see if you two are a match! ps: dr kim gives you his personal cell phone # in case you have any questions after the procedurey…
that put my mind at so much ease after the surgery. **side note: if you wanted to use your care credit account to take advantage of the 0% interest – dr kim’s office will charge you a small % (i think its a fee that is charged to the company–
there are other offices that will eat the fee but dr kims office extends to the cost to the client) it actually still ends up being cheaper than other prices around the bay area, so if you prefer to make payments – go for it.
i, on the other hand, didnt want to pay anything extra so i decided to charge the procedure on my cashback card and pay the balance off in full. this however, is the only reason why i gave 2 stars vs 3.
Never Again
I was contemplating about whether going to a Beverly Hills or stay in San Francisco( comfortof my home) for a breast augmentation. Because I was referred by two of my friends who got theirs done at Dr. kims, I decided to go in for a FREE consultation. Caroline, the office manager was a sweetheart. She was friendly and even showed up on the day of my surgery ( 6:00am) to say hi and comforted me.
Dr. Kim did great job . Although I’m still in the healing process, for the most part I’d say so far so good. I didn’t need the pain pump and only needed the pain killer for 2 1/2 days, strolling the mall on day 3!
The office staff was just as nice and accommodating.
Thank you Dr. for 2 great experience’s in your office. I hate the thought of needles on my face but what the heck. I gave Juviderm a try and was very happy with the results.
He talked to me the whole time while he started the procedure so I was very comfortable while I was there and pleased with the results. I also came back to try the Refinity Peel which was great. My skin looks and feels younger. The office staff was just as nice and accommodating.
I will continue to go back for anything else I need.
I needed an Obagi blue peel for my back to get rid of scars and discoloration. Prior to this I was given medicine to help me heal before the procedure. I was warned that the peel was to be painful, however,
Dr. Kim gave me numbing cream and it was nearly painless (keep in mind everyones body is different). The past two times I’ve been there I have always felt comfortable, and I will continue to go back for anything else I need.
I admire Dr. Kim and find his staff quite professional as well. He is a ray of light.
Dr. Kim is one of the best plastic surgeons in California. He excels in professionalism and is a great humanitarian as well. He is fair and does more than his part to help the less fortunate in the farthest, darkest most dangerous part of the globe.
Each year he donates his money and vacation time to donate his services, free of charge to poor children with cleft lip and palette. I admire Dr. Kim and find his staff quite professional as well. He is a ray of light.

I am writing this review for my girlfriend. She is 100% unhappy with her results and how unprofessional Dr. Kim was going about it. She has visible uneven scars on both sides of her breast. He told her to use the ointment that he said would help but its complete CR@P!
The implants are lopsided. It is not even and Dr. Kim’s started to blame her saying her breast was like that before. Which is completely false. Its very obvious that Dr. Kim does not know what he is doing. Its sad that he does not care enough and just all long as he was paid!
FYI: just because a doctor goes school to be a Plastic Surgeon and has a certificate to prove it on his wall, it DOES NOT mean that he actually has the talent for it. Believe me you need both to be a Good Plastic Surgeon. His work speaks for itself. Thumbs down!

Dr kim is rude and unprofessional! He portray himself as very nice and sincere during consultation until he gets your payment. He will also give you a Special discount which is cheaper than most but obviously there is a reason why.
In the end, you will get what you paid for. If you are considering him please make sure you do your homework with him & have consultation with others doctors too.

i got my breast implants from Dr Roy Kim on May 3rd, I wanted a big C small D I am now a DD. 15months after my initial surgery i had to have my left implant repositioned as it was falling down into my arm pit, it still does today.
I hate my breasts now, i used to be happy and now im so miserable sometimes i feel like ive the ugliest body When i went back to get my left implant redone he wasnt very nice neither were his staff.
Im back living in Ireland now and cant afford to do anything with them. I hate my self for doing them and i hate my body. there isnt a day that goes by that i dont think my body sucks.

REALLY? A sudden boost of stars all in one day? ( notice all the 5 stars are written on the same date) * raise eyebrow*. I REALLY didn’t want to do this bad review, but figured people shouldn’t be blinded or mislead either.
Had my breast augmentation last year in Nov ( saline) . Consultation, staff were nice. ( duh, they are selling thousand dollar treatments). The 2nd consultation AND on the day of the SURGERY, Dr. Kim kept forgetting I was getting saline. He kept mentioning “silicone”.
I had to correct him . I was having allergic reaction to my med ( vomiting ) and left him a voicemail. He called back and asked me what of pain I was in. SERIOUSLY? KIM doesnt listen too well.
After 2 months, I had some weird feeling in my breast. Told KIM. He listened and said ” I DONT KNOW WHAT THAT IS. AND THERE’S NOTHING I COULD DO”. ( weird feeling still going on today)
Then the ” office manager” comes in and bombards you to WRITE HIM A REVIEW ON YELP! I’m sure writters, they get incentives. Little did she know, not ALL reviews are going to be positive.

Absolutely HATE my results. My recent breast augmentation turned out to be a waste of 8g. Sloppy scars, noticeably uneven shape and placement, hardening of one implant, palpable implant edges around my breasts (although I went under the muscle, silicone gel).. everything is just UGH! And although I had my incisions at the breast fold like Caroline (office manager) & Dr. Kim recommended, it’s not even in the fold. It’s higher than the fold so you can actually see the scar.
I assumed the breast fold would be the easiest incision – I can’t believe he would mess up! On top of that, my implants are so wide for my rib cage so I have plenty of unwanted side boob. My bf also describes it as “big longitudinally” – meaning its so wide for my body that it looks LONG.
However, I barely have any cleavage wtf! When I lie down, both implants just droop towards opposite sides so that I can place my entire palm in the middle of my chest and feel my chest bone.

I came to see him and felt like he did not care. He tried to rush me out of his office. Then I later realized that his girlfriend/wife was waiting for him probably to go out for lunch. I would never come back again.
