Rude, Unprofessional And Childish Front Office

I would like to make it clear that I am in no way discussing Dr.Richard K Elia’s experience, knowledge or ability as a medical professional.

This review is simply dedicated to his rude, unprofessional and childish front office; specifically Brittany and her manager.

I was unable to obtain the manager’s name because I was actually HUNG UP on.

I have been in the medical profession for 12+ years and have dealt with numerous patients, providers, staff and insurance companies and have never been treated in such a disrespectful manner.

I called on behalf of a family member, they have had several life threatening episodes and went for testing.

The office staff told the patient to call back within a few days, following their direction, patient called several times, and each time was told to “call back in 2 weeks.” I

was fed up with this game as the patients health and safety is a concern.

I called and spoke with Brittany, who was completely unhelpful and actually seemed annoyed that I had called and that I was asking questions.

I do understand HIPPA however the questions I was asking were within my scope.

She was completely obnoxious, rude and childish when I asked if there was an email address I could send to Doc, she said “no,” which again, I can understand privacy;

I proceeded to ask about a general email so that I may write in, she replied, “we don’t do the email.”

Really? You “don’t do the email?” Then what exactly do you do?

You don’t answer questions, provide customer service, provide solutions to concerns nor are you pleasant, concerned or nice.

After a few excruciating minutes on the phone with Brittany, her “manager” snatched the phone from her and told me,

“Brittany has to go, she has patients and the phone is ringing…”

I said, “ok, well I still need help..”

“We can’t help you, we have to go..”

“well can you take my phone number so you can call me back when you are done?”


She actually hung up. I am dumbfounded. I read one of the reviews which referred to her experience as “arguing with a child.”

I completely agree with them. In fact I think it is an insult to children because even my toddler God son can say please and thank you.

Dr. Elia, I hope that you read this and understand, your front office is an extension of your medical services and yourself.

I would expect professional, helpful staff with smiles on their faces.

Your patients that have true medical ailments, can do without the disgusting attitudes.

    This Doctor and office is the worst. First as a new patient, when making an appointment it is required that they get you into see the doctor within 3 months of becoming a new patient. That did not happen for us instead the rude receptionist kept saying she needed to see if we were on the list.

    laughable, considering the list is updated every 24 hours. second, i informed this rude person that my daughter needed immunizations and was one month shy of the time to get them took 3 months to finally see her after waiting another 3 on top of that, 6 months so my now 9 month old could get her 3 month shots ridiculous.

    I have been a patient of Dr. Gerdes for 10 plus years and a new patient of Dr. Elia. In no way does this reflect on Dr. Elia this is for the 2 ladies who work in front (did not get there names becuse I walked out so livid.) I had the worst experience EVER at his office today! Had an apt today, first apt of the year. Need referrals and lab work.

    My insurance company just sent out new insurance card so was unable to have card in hand. Called the office prior to inform them. I was told to provide member ID number and Group #. Well I get to apt today and was refused due to no card?!? She told me if I went to any Dr or hospital I would be turned away? I guess hospitals can turn away patients now? Lol.
