Dr.Tam Nguyen was one of the physicians responsible for family members’ care at a local rehabilitation/recovery facility.
My family member was transferred to a nearby hospital because of complications under Dr. Nguyen (as the physician ON CAL for this facility on that particular day).
My family member died shortly after I arrived at the facility.
Staff tried to reach Dr. Nguyen repeatedly, but we were finally informed by TEXT MESSAGES that he could not come to the facility to assess my family member and announce the time of his death.
He then delegated this responsibility to the facility administrator, who commissioned it via text message to one of the staff LVNs.
My family and I had to call 911 to have paramedics arrive at the hospital to assess and declare my loved one had died.
I am a registered nurse and have worked in Level I Trauma / Emergency Centers for over 20 years.
I have never met a doctor with such an inhumane disregard for human dignity and lack of respect for my family.
If a loved one is placed under Dr. Nguyen’s care in a nursing home, staff were not surprised that Dr. Nguyen couldn’t be bothered to care for them as they died.
I was there for six hours until the funeral attendant arrived. Dr. Nguyen never appeared and did not attempt to contact any family members.
Disgraceful. I will file a complaint at the Medical Board of California.
