Dr. Eric Tabas

The Office Is Super Creepy

PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING Dr. Eric Tabas

I went to this office yesterday for my annual as a new patient.

I am in a pinch for time since my IUD expires next month and I needed a quick turnaround.

I started filling out the paperwork, when I got to the last page and it was an arbitration agreement.

I don’t know about you, but that is a red flag. I then went to search him, where I read some very suspect reviews–here is what was consistent between the reviews:

1. He does NOT have a nurse present during the examination.

I just moved from New York where it is the law to have a third party present in the examination room especially if the doctor is male.

NY even enforces this in urgent care.

2. He takes a Polaroid of you when you’re a new patient to keep on file (why the f*** do you need a picture of my face to examine my lady parts) you’re not an orthodontist.

3. Back to the arbitration agreement–this is very one-sided protection just for the doctor.

It basically states that you cannot sue for medical malpractice.

If something goes wrong, you go to an arbitrator (& God knows how long that process would be).

4. A fair amount of people also seemed to have issues with the billing department double-billing them and then going to collections very fast and not appealing any cases.

Not to mention… The office is super creepy and he himself seems to also be.

I did not even end up going to this appointment. I faked a work emergency.

I was so creeped out by what I read that I left.

I would rather my IUD expire inside my uterus than have this guy even breathe the same air as me.

  1. It can't get any better.

Dr. Tabas has been a very good doctor to me for over 9 years. He really takes his time to explain everything and listens to you from the heart. I just had a D&C procedure today at California Pacific Medical Center. He made sure I had the best operation room staff he could of found me and yes they were great!

My surgery started at 8:10a.m. was done in about 15 mins, then to the recovery room. Only thing I had was nausea from the medication they put to you to sleep with, other than that… it is 8p.m. now and I haven’t take a pain medication yet. No Advil or Tylenol yet but we will see about later before bedtime or tomorrow morning.

The night before I was in a stage of panic and I called to tall to him. I felt bad about it because my pre-op visit with him was last week and he asked if I had any questions and I said, “NO!” I just treated it as oh another surgery big deal as I had 3 other surgeries from another doctor that knew him and worked together with him (the other doctor retired so that is why I was referred to Dr. Tabas). I was in tears when I called the office the secretary, Olivia gave the phone over to him right away.

He kindly asked why was I crying and I told him because I was scared and didn’t know what to expect. He said that was normal, spoke to me kindly and was able to get me to stop, calm down, and even laugh as we spoke. I told him I was so thankful to have an understanding doctor like you.

Dr. Tabas has always joke with me and laugh about things when we talk. Seeing him and talking to him is like a close friend. It can’t get any better.

  2. Dr Tabas is thoughtful and caring doctor.

Dr Tabas is thoughtful and caring doctor. He delivered both of our children and always encouraged me to ask as many questions as I could think of before, during and after my appointments to bring in the next time. I really like his small practice, instead of the huge corporate one I went to when I first moved to SF.

  3. I just don't get them anymore, now that I am almost 70 years old. Jessica

This doctor performed one of his first laprascopy procedures on me in 1995. It was done incorrectly and I almost bled to death in the hospital. Before the operation, he told me I would be “power walking” about a week afterwards, but I was in bed for 5 months and could not work for 14 months, because I also suffered PSTD from the trauma of nearly dying.

The entire experience put me $10,000 extra out of pocket for a psychotherapist and because I couldn’t work. I actually billed Dr. Tabas for it, but he refused to “do the right thing.” I still have pain in my right side from the massive blood clot and scar tissue he left me with.

As for PSTD, I haven’t had a pelvic exam since this experience that doesn’t hurt horribly; actually, I just don’t get them anymore, now that I am almost 70 years old. Jessica
