Dr. Dorothy Dube

I Was Met With Two Of The Rudest

I should have listened to the other reviewers before booking my annual exam with Dr. Dorothy Dube’s office.

The billing practices at this office are verging on predatory.

I’m covered by HealthNet PPO and was explicitly told multiple times (before and after my visit) that I would not be charged as it falls under preventative care.

Lo and behold, I receive a $45 copay charge in the mail the very next month.

Assuming a clerical error, I call her office to explain there was a billing mishap and to please invalidate the open invoice.

I was met with two of the rudest and least helpful women in the healthcare industry claiming there was “nothing they could do” because Dr. Dube added two distinct billing codes to my 15 minute visit all because I made the mistake of mentioning symptoms of an illness which I didn’t even have and wasn’t treated for (I have the $50 LabCorp bill to prove that).

This means that for that 15 minute check-up I was charged as if I had scheduled two separate office visits each with their own $45 copays, all because they chose to add two billing codes instead of one, and offload me onto LabCorp.

Next time I’ll be SUPER careful not to mention any of my symptoms to doctors, due to the fear of being charged for simply uttering the words (I don’t think that’s the point of preventative healthcare, but if this is how the system works, buyer beware).

  1. Wish I could see her for everything!

Dr. Dube is everything you want in a gynecologist. I hadn’t been into the office for almost 6 years (doctors kind-of scare me) but after I started bleeding uncontrollably at work after loosing 40+ ounces over the weekend I hopped in a cab and showed up without calling and asked if there was anyway they could see me.

The office staff was kind and helpful and Dr. Dube was able to see me that day. She has since been very gentle, empathetic and extremely responsive with me and very aggressive in solving my problem. She called just to check up on me–I’ve never had a doctor do that, not ever!

She’s also responded to my calls the same day and has worked with me to solve problems with meds and insurance. The last time I saw her the crazy bleeding started while I was on the table and even though I wanted to cry she was calm, reassuring and just helped me clean up and then put me on stronger stuff to stop the bleeding. Wish I could see her for everything!

  2. I would recommend any and all of the doctors at this medical practice!

All of the physicians and the nurse practioner at the practice are amazing! They go above and beyond to make sure that you receive the best medical care possible. Additionally, scheduling appointments with them is really easy… I use and it shows you all of their available appointment times.

You can even get a same-day appointment with them, unlike other offices, where you have to wait for 3 months to be seen. I would recommend any and all of the doctors at this medical practice!

  3. I didn't think I was getting anyone else other than Dr. Dube when I made the appointment.

Two stars may be a bit generous, but it is almost Christmas. So, I met with Dr Dube once before and she was pretty cool. So I thought I would book another appointment at that office. Big mistake.

With exception of one front desk woman who was professional and nice, the younger medical/ front office assistant staff is rude and disorganized. Western Career College gone bad basically.

I had an appointment at 2:30 and was put into a room wrapped in the over-sized Brawny paper towel and a young lady came in to take my temp with one of those crappy $5 digital thermometers only to never come back to take it from my mouth or to take the read for that matter.

Oh and PS, I was sporting the Brawny towel for over a half hour with no one letting me know what the hold up was. Like I was going to walk out with it wrapped around my waist to check the status. Maybe I should have. maybe I would have been more comfortable seated in the waiting room in that get up.

I was under the impression I was seeing Dr Dube for my appt who again, is nice and I liked only to have some other doctor in the practice whose name I didn’t even get come storming in 40 minutes after the appointment. She had no clue why I was there or any info on my chart even though I had only been there once before. She had zero personality or bedside manner. She was very cold and matter of fact not wanting to take the time to listen to my concerns. Not a good thing.

I will update with the doc name in the practice that I did not care for so you can make sure you don’t get her. Although, I didn’t think I was getting anyone else other than Dr. Dube when I made the appointment.
