Dr. Dang Phi Long

Very Incompetent And Unhelpful Front Desk Lady

I agree with all the negative reviews in regards to the front desk lady. Very incompetent and unhelpful lady.

I received a bill for my dad from Dr. Dang Phi Long stating that we need to pay the difference for the medical visits that our insurance did not cover.

My dad was treated at Orange Coast Memorial Hospital In-network.

However, Out-of-network doctors like Dr. Long are apparently allowed to bill you for their services separately and they do so without disclosure of doing so, so in the end, you and your family are left with this separate bill from the doctor that your insurance doesn’t cover.

Apparently, Dr. Long and his staff (Vince) expect you to know that you can turn away a doctor who shows up in your room even though you’re being treated at an in-network hospital.

Allowing out-of-network doctors to treat patients at an in-network hospital is a horrible system that should not be allowed.

In regards to Dr. Long, he was recommended by the liver surgeon to treat my dad’s hepatitis after his surgery.

However, the doctors agreed to take him off of the hepatitis treatment the day after since his liver was not responding well to the treatment, which means Dr. Long’s services were no longer needed.

I contacted his office to explain why Dr. Long felt the need to visit my dad on 7 more separate occasions and file claims when he was no longer treating my dad.

Even my insurance company thought it was excessive. For the doctor who contributed the least (if at all) out of all the doctors, he billed for the most claims and his office tries to justify it.

There is no justification for Dr. Long to show up randomly in our room at his own convenience just to summarize everything we were already informed of by the surgeon and to bill $300 for each of those 2-3 minute visits. In my opinion, this guy is a crook.

  3. My question is if the doctor even knows what is going on in his own office!

I come to the office today to fill out the paper work to become a patient. There are several patients before me. So I wait patiently for my turn. While waiting, I observe and read all the signs posted. There is a fee of $1.00 per PAGE for your medical record for personnal use.

Define PERSONAL USE. What else do you need record for? For FUN? It is RIDICULOUS! Also there is a NO SHOW fee if you do not cancel 72 hrs in advance! I think 24 hr notice is enough, why 72 hrs? What if you have an EMER situation in family or your car breaks down the day before? It seems to me all they care is MONEY not PATIENT.

I wander if he swear under oath before he gets his license that CARE FOR PATIENT, NOT MONEY! There is no SIGN IN sheet. So when it is my turn the receptionist who is very UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE ignores me even though I am right in front of her and help others. I told her I am first before the others. She says she does not know and assuming I just comes for fun?

Also there is a patient before me , coming all the way from San Diego to get his records after 2 weeks requesting by fax, phone, and after paying the ridiculous fee, he still could not get the records w/ an excuse that there are too many and the person who does that is not there at that moment.

I wander it is legal to refuse to give patients their records. After seeing all these with my own eyes, I walk out and glad that I am not becoming a patient there. My question is if the doctor even knows what is going on in his own office!

  4. Is it a business or where they really care about the patients?

I do not know Dr Long Dang, but I feel really strange the way his office treat patients. I called to schedule an appointment to see him for the first time since my last GI doctor now was not working with my medical insurance group. Even though I had already got an authorization from my insurance group (HMO),

the medical assistant refused to give me an appointment because I couldn’t go to see Dr. Dang; I need to go back and pick a new medical group that my last doctor belong to to stay with him. I told her that I didn’t like to stay with that doctor any way. But, the medical assistant still said that she couldn’t receive me as a new patient since the doctors do not want to “step on each other ‘s toes…. WHAT IS THAT? Is it a business or where they really care about the patients?

  5. This is NOT right and I will not condone it.

I am very disappointed and shocked of how UNPROFESSIONAL the employees at the office treated me today. Instead of apologizing they made a mistake giving me an appointment when the doctor was not there, they rudely told me to go to another specialist.

The lady employee told me Dr. Phi Long has plenty of patients and does not need any more patient like me who only comes to see him for one of my internal problem instead of the entire gastro-intestinal system. This is the first time in my life I’ve ever heard such a ridiculous suggestion from a front officer to a patient. On top of that, a male employee came out and started to yell at me using such impolite language when I was reactive to the situation.

I have a health problem needed to be taken care and had to wait for several weeks for this appointment. When being told off to leave without an explanation (I paid all my bills, was never late for any appointments, and never displayed any unpleasant treatment to the office), I could not help to be quite mad. I think this is as bad as it could be for a doctor’s office. When I told them I will write a review about the situation, they didn’t seem to even care and told me to go ahead with it.

Dr. Phi long, please take a serious action towards this situation. You don’t want your employees to tarnish your name and profession. They acted as they are above the patients (and you). I don’t think anyone of your patients needs to put up with this.

This is NOT right and I will not condone it. I will write and call to the California Board regarding this case. I fully agree with Tom H. about this! And if my health is being affected by this delay due to your employees mistake (it is not easy to get an immediate appointment by a similar specialist), this may be a beginning of a lawsuit.
