Terrible Responsiveness

Terrible responsiveness from Douglas Elliman Real Estate, its no wonder their review score is so low on here.

The timeline: Online inquiry for 1 or 2br at The Leonard(101 Leonard St)–immediate email from Iman Bacodari asking buy or rent–informed rental and that was the last I heard from him.

My fiancé had a similar experience- spoke with Iman on the phone, sent an unanswered text and two unanswered emails.

Iman did not know that we were associated with each other either!

Following suit with Iman’s outstanding customer service practices is associate Lisa (last name unknown).

Left her a voicemail 6/13 explaining our motivation (7/1 move-in), budget ($8,000), and issues with Iman.

Still haven’t heard back from her either. The receptionist is the most proactive person in this office!

We called BOND and had an awesome broker meet us same day 6/15 to show us over 20 apartments in 7 different buildings.

We’re seeing our 2br hopeful at The Leonard on Monday.

She will also be our first choice when looking to buy next summer.

    I have no experience with Douglas Elliman but I have worked with one of their real estate agents. Ayumu (Ike) Toda who just switched over from another company and who I experienced as a sharp and clear minded real estate agent.

    Within a month I had to find someone to take over my lease or start new one year contract because I was returning to Europe. Ike accomplished finding a renter in less than a month, did what was possible to make it come through and also helped me sell some of my furniture.

    As a recent transplant from another State, I went online to look at apartments on sites like StreetEasy, etc. We found a great apartment and the real estate broker connected to the apartment was linked to the Cho Team.

    Jia Hui “Philip” Zou from this broker team was assigned to assist us. At first Mr Zou and his colleagues at the Cho Team were attentive to our questions, etc., but then Mr. Zou started not to return calls and/or answer emails. On several occasions we had to resubmit documents and answer again questions that were already provided to him and his colleagues. Because we were under the wire to move to NYC, and were not able to reach Mr. Zou,

    we resorted to reaching out his supervisor Edward Cho. Mr. Cho when contacting him, had a tone of voice that we were bothering him and he would not provide clear answers on why Mr. Zou could not be reached and why we had to resubmit documents all over. We eventually had to reach out to his supervisor Doublad Ellman for assistance who was extremely helpful.

  5. They're quick to take your money and paperwork, but good luck trying to get your deposits back.

    These people manage buildings throughout the city. The building I lived in was great, The Ocean. However, after moving out it was another story. Our lease states that our deposit is due to us within 60 days of moving out. We moved out on February 28th, it is now March 11th. 72 days have passed, we still don’t have the money.

    The contact person who handles the deposits does not return calls, or he returns emails with one liners consisting of “will update you”. What kind of joke company are you running Douglas Elliman? ? I’ve never been so upset with anyone, or had to nag a company so much for money OWED to us.

    If we ever paid rent late, or moved out late, or messed up the apartment (which we didnt, all rent was paid on time, all keys were returned, moved out on time, apartment was left in great condition), they would be on us like swine flu in Mexico.

    Worst most unprofessional bunch of thugs I’ve ever dealt with. You can be sure that if I threatened legal action the money would somehow magically appear. It’s sad that it’s reached that point. They’re quick to take your money and paperwork, but good luck trying to get your deposits back.

    Worst experience ever. Their incompetence and ineptitude knew no bounds and cost me tens of thousands of dollars more than what was needed in order to make a simple move.

    They also moonlight as landlords for certain properties throughout the city and will do their best to bicker and fight with you about each and every issue while claiming it’s not their responsibility to fix.

    If you want to experience an easy and efficient move from one apartment to another, avoid Stefani Pace and Avi Lasri at all costs!

  7. Beware of this type of disregard for the laws of NYC!

    The super in my daughter’s building at 277 W 10th St promised she would get her full deposit back when she vacated on. I have communicated with the property manager, John Geoghegan of Douglas Elliman Property Management, and he continues to blame the bank that they have rushed the check and it is out of their control?

    I have asked if they give him the same excuse for his paycheck and if they have no ability to write their own checks? This requirement to refund in 30 days is now 3 weeks past due! They are liars and cheats and do not comply with the law! Beware of this type of disregard for the laws of NYC!

    I read the review on 33 west 56th street. Centurion building. I agree because I lived there also. It is true, that woman is like the building is hers. You here the noise of the elevator all day and night from her going up and down to smoke.

    The doormen cater to her every whim and act like they hate other tenants. The property manager Dawn I have never talked too but, heard you will get nowhere. Some kind of racket going on. They also just enter your condo without asking you or telling you.

    It is not a nice place to live. Way overpriced and to small with weirdo tenants. Property managers listen to the India woman lies about other tenants and do not investigate. Dont rent or buy here. YOU WILL BE SORRY

    Avi Lasri is the biggest scum bag broker i have ever encounterd in all the years that I have done real estate deals. He attempts to charge a brokerage commission for a no fee listing. This guy is a crook and not to be trusted.

    Horrific! Incredibly disappointing experience. If I could give no stars I would. I “worked” with two “Licensed Brokers” and neither could follow through with anything they said they would. Both used multiple excuses. This company has very low standards of employee professionalism and customer services.

  11. You will barely ever get a call back from this property management firm.

    DE manages my condo on the upper west side. They are almost completely nonresponsive. I spoke to our building’s rep for over 2 years, her manager and now the VP. There are serious problems in our building including a condo owner that is terrorizing three women that live alone.

    I had the awful pleasure of working with NADIA BARTOLUCCI. This woman will lie to your face, saying whatever it takes to get you to sign the lease. Be warned. GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING.

    I had a horrible feeling about this company, and was really turned off from Nadia during our first conversation. I had asked about getting several things fixed for the apartment.

    She went on and on about how the landlord would fix everything; signed the lease..and nothing. When I asked the landlord, he said Nadia had said nothing about the list of things that needed to be done to the apartment prior to my moving in.

    How convenient…she promises everything, but delivers nothing. AVOID HER at all costs! Never doing business with Douglas Elliman ever again.

    Horrible experience! Deceitful, misled, lied to. Every issue was someone else fault. Refused to listen preferring to interrupt, speak over you and raise their voices to yelling. Fabricated false value and time to sale to get listing and quick;y moved to one of four price reductions.

    Lazy and ineffective effort generating activity. Made error quoting taxes on a DE printed brochure which led to last minute buyer cancelling closing and cost me the seller $8,500.00 at closing to keep buyer.

    DE & Agents refused to kick in anything to resolve the problem they created. Suggest you avoid DE but definitely avoid working with Tina Canaris and team (Ellen).

  15. Please do not hire these people..

    Basically, I’m working with the devil (Douglas Elliman). Found an agent with D. Elliman, after a month and a half on the market and asking just a few basic questions to the agent.

    Found out she knew absolutely nothing. Talked with the Broker, she really didn’t care, she offered another one of their agents or told me to either pay the 1% listing fee and fees ( highest and longest exclusive listing agreements in the business:my lawyers perspective) for them to do nothing.
