Boston City Properties

He Completely Disrespected Me

I worked with Ed Duhamel last fall. I was moving back to Boston and he and I emailed frequently and I had picked my top 5 properties in the areas I was thinking about.

I was feeling optimistic and ready to go to work finding an apartment, but when I arrived Ed essentially ghosted me.

I was only in town for a week in order to look at properties and do job interviews.

He showed me one place and then kept pushing me off until I was supposedly going to get a job offer (which nobody wanted to hire me until I had moved back) and then on my second to last day after he had ignored my calls, texts and emails and I had reached out to the office reporting about my experience he emailed me saying that I wouldn’t be able to get an apartment without a secured job offer and that if I wanted to get an apartment at all I would have to work directly with the seller’s agents and make some kind of a back door deal.

I ended up working with the seller’s agent of the apartment I saw and she helped me secure an apartment on my last day.

She was able to do the work in one day that Ed was not able to do in the months I gave him.

He completely disrespected me and my time.

I could only recommend him if you enjoy unprofessionalism and being blown off.

  1. It was a pleasure working with Derek.

So when we can across an apartment in the right neighborhood of Boston I reached out to Derek Ebrecht of Boston City Properties who listed the property. He made seeing the apartment easy.

And not only that, when it came to sign the lease, he came to our home at the time in the evening, to make the process simple.

It was a pleasure working with Derek. You will be in good hands whether your looking to rent an apartment or have an apartment for rent!

  2. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a realtor.

Had an excellent experience with Ellen Mulder. She supplied us with outstanding apartment options daily via email and was always available to discuss questions we had.

Ellen is very responsive to email or text which also helped make the process as efficient as possible. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a realtor.

  3. Honestly disappointed with Boston city properties..

Honestly disappointed with Boston city properties.. I had recently moved out a couple months ago and it was the most difficult process ever to get out of my lease. My garbage disposal was broken my whole last month living there and no one got back to me or returned my calls.. like I had already moved out! Not sure how I feel to recommend working with them.

  4. The most unprofessional experience I have ever had with a real estate agency STAY AWAY!

I cannot fathom where all these good reviews are coming from. My husband and I were looking for an apartment with very specific search criteria and our assigned broker Ellen could not manage to find a place remotely fulfilling them. Working with her created WAY more work for us and I know there were plenty of apartments that met our criteria because I was seeing them on Craigslist.

The most important thing to us was to be in a specific neighborhood and I was having to go on google maps myself to figure out if the apartment would work. Luckily I am already living in Boston or I would have been totally lost because she was absolutely no help.

I can’t understand how she expected us to pay her one month’s rent for her useless recommendations. Out of the hundreds of places she sent us, one matched our needs and when we asked to see it she said she didn’t think it was a good place. Why would you send me something if you don’t think it’s appropriate?

Then she showed up to the showing without a key and after criticizing the property the next day I started getting texts telling me there were lots of other people interested and I needed to commit! Are you kidding me? I would do anything to avoid paying this woman a broker fee.

Needless to say we went with a different agency but I wish I hadn’t wasted so much time with her. The most unprofessional experience I have ever had with a real estate agency STAY AWAY!

  5. Rita L. LAER Realty Partners.

on Cumin – beware of this unethical agent who loves to waste people’s time. Response time – 24 hours by email, never returns tel. messages, gets HIS feelings hurt when he/his clients do not show up to the appointment. Oohh, I even had to google him to get his brokerage’s name and his cell #.

Despite that, he emailed me several times pushing for the showing for his clients with large dogs, when I told him it might be a problem. Last email came 1:30 AM… No response after that and got upset when I called him after he did not show up. Time to take an Ethics Course, Jon! Rita L. LAER Realty Partners.

  6. What a shameful way to run a business.

I am perplexed by all of the positive reviews here. Perhaps, that’s what happens when you only care about the pure volume of sales vs. overall quality of customer service?

In the middle of renting out our apartment to a tenant, we were told our realtor (Christie) no longer worked at BCP. We were not told by Christie… nor by the President of the company… but by another realtor.

Our experience with Christie is, in fact, another 0-1 star review… A major miscommunication resulted in not having our apartment shown to ANYONE for over 1 month. Unacceptable. We received ranting emails casting blame back and forth to which we simply asked if we could move forward with the tenant (who was in fact, brought to us by another realtor at BCP–not by Christie).

After receiving word that Christie was no longer with the company, the President, Dan, took zero accountability for our negative experience thus-far, simply stating over and over again that Christie was no longer there. Instead of an apology, we were told BCP was #1 in volume sales and that they rarely receive negative reviews. Well, here’s one. (Likely only to get buried by volume….) What a shameful way to run a business.

  7. Consider yourself warned.

I cannot imagine a worse rental agency experience. Ellen failed to submit the lease, leaving me high and dry. I had to scramble to find alternative housing within a week. And then, she kept the rental fee anyway!

It was finally returned, three months later, after they were threatened with legal action. I wouldn’t wish this agency on an enemy, let alone recommend it. Consider yourself warned.

  8. Terrible agent to list rentals with.

I ended up deciding to list a rental with a family friend (you know how that goes) instead of Richard Lindquist. My agent reached out to Richard asking him to delete the listing. Richard called me and was very rude saying i should have called him as a man and ended the conversation with have a great life in a very disrespectful way.

This was all uncalled for and not necessary. I was never rude to him and this very unprofessional. Richard also took my listing that I posted and copied it word for word. We signed no agreement. He performed the bare minimum. Terrible agent to list rentals with.
