Bellco Credit Union

The Customer Service

Extremely disappointed in the customer service I received. I was excited to come to Bellco Credit Union as it’s close to my work and seems a bit more modern than the one close to home.

However, when I was inside, I was very disappointed with the service I received from the teller named Rachel.

She was not friendly whatsoever, when I told her what I needed (a new debit card printed because mine was hacked) she just looks at me and made a face.

I then asked “well can you help me get a new card or..?” And she finally said “ya” all short.

After verifying my information, we finally got me a new card. Then, we had to activate it so we went over to the ATM.

She told me to make the account balance on the ATM in order to activate my card but never told me I needed to print a receipt.

So, after I said “no receipt” she goes “it’s not going to work you didn’t print receipt” I told her well you didn’t tell me either way so I wasn’t sure.

Finally, I got to leave and I was so ready to be in my car after dealing with her.

Hopefully whenever I have to go back to that location I will have better service.

  1. Scammer

The front line staff at Bellco seem to be great, but trying to deal with the policies set by management and implemented by the back office people are next to impossible. This is not how Bellco used to be run but it seems like in the past few years things have changed towards the negative.

Two things I’ve specifically noticed. First, although Bellco is more than willing to have the assets (IRA’s, savings, etc) from retired members, but they will fight any attempt to provide their retired members with loans. Second, (although not critical, it shows how far Bellco has moved from wanting to provide good customer service) it is not possible to call a branch directly.

I needed to talk to a staff member at the branch on Kipling and I was put on their automated answering system for over 15 minutes before transferred to the branch. I am seriously thinking of ending my decades long membership with Bellco and find a bank that actually wants my business.

  2. They said they had no record of a previous request.

They are awful. You can’t e-mail them from their website, and if you call them you have to navigate through a ton of prompts. I paid off a loan over a week ago and requested a payoff letter. I never received it and called again today. They said they had no record of a previous request.

  3. STAY AWAY!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!

The worst customer service I have ever received. They pretend to care about you but once they know you have no options of going somewhere else you’re stuck.

The loan officers are rude and don’t care if you have hard deadlines. We were lied to multiple times and when we asked hard questions no one answered us. Not our emails or our phone calls. Very unprofessional and we were extremely disappointed.

  4. If I could rate Bellco's service lower than one star I would.

If I could rate Bellco’s service lower than one star I would. Their online banking for paying with a debit card hasn’t worked since I signed up for online bill paying. On the phone you have to pay collections since it is an outside payment. Sometimes, during their business hours, it will say no one in collections is there to take your payment and hangs up on you.

When you do get a hold of somebody and are even a day late, they will actually ask what the reasoning behind being late is. I understand if I was past the 10 day period, but a day later makes me feel like I am in trouble.

Their customer service people always sounds like they use the worst phones/microphones out there. Muffled and cuts out so it is very hard to hear. They also give the thing we report to the BBB every 30-60-90 day thing and just prolong the phone call when you have already had to go through wait times and transfers to get a hold of someone in collections.
