They are short of customer service staff

Their capability to handle seamless online transfers with external accounts is very rudimentary. BECU messed up on this with one of our customers trying to make a payment to our account. They I had fraudulent activity on my account, with purchases made in three different states on my account, over a week, with three different signers.

They reviewed the activity and determined it didn’t look “fraudulent.” With three people other than me, the account owner signing on these purchases! It truly seemed no one had actually “looked” at the material I provided to them at all. I had to escalate the matter up a level to get the activity removed.

This bank is great for a little Christmas savings account, or perhaps a car loan. But don’t go to them for sophisticated banking needs in an era of online bill pay or possible identity theft. They are short of customer service staff and the ability to handle things at the local level.

    BECU treats you a deceased while you are well and alive! They transferred my savings and checking balances to the state of Washington without notifying me! When I contacted Cathy, a supervisor, she simply said that I’d better claim my money to the state! 😱 WTF!

  2. I ended up receiving a better rate with another credit union thanks to the dealer i chose to purchase with!

    Becu recently promoted a .5% rate savings when purchasing an automobile. What they did not disclose was that you have to buy from a dealer of there choosing! I beleive it is due to some sort of a kickback they receive from the dealership. As a customer of BECU i should be able to purchase from where I want and still get the interest savings.

    We all have a choice who we bank with and who we buy a vehicle from and should not be held hostage in either case. From now on i will choose to bank elsewhere! I ended up receiving a better rate with another credit union thanks to the dealer i chose to purchase with!

    not a bank. cant cash checks. cant do anything but aplolgize for lack of service everything done via machine. and quite frankly customer service is awful children who are lazy. worst place ever. management and ownership clearly dont care about the customer. might as well call it wells fargo or the president

    BECU is garbage. I haven’t had anything but issues with them. They have been very shady and the terrible girl who signed me up for an account applied me for a credit card without my permission when I said I didn’t have good credit.

    Early this month I had a terrible dental infection, and BECU sent me a letter that said I had a negative balance because they were charging me fees since I wasn’t signed up for direct deposit through them. I did not see the letter until just now, and they have already sent me to collections and closed my account.

    Collections is only available Mon – Fri 8-6 when I am at work so I have to try and fix this during my work breaks next week. Not a happy customer at all.

  5. Extremely dissatisfied with the service

    Extremely dissatisfied with the service. Used the ATM for cash withdrawal but the bank thoroughly misguided with the charges. They mentioned 2.50$ per transaction but deducted $6.00 for cash withdrawal using other bank ATM card. This is deceiving !!

    Awful…outdated, lame. Screwing people over. I’m quite sure they only hire high school graduates with big bottoms and fake nails. Will be contacting
    Attorney General and Consumer Fraud. They will rectify the situation.

    After Mr Whoever from BECU contacted me to clarify things, I gave the BECU’s customer service all the details of many transactions they ‘thought were fraudulent’ and they thanked me, promised to clarify, make things right, blahblahblah.

    They went dark and I never heard back from them again. A few days after, my wife’s card been locked because she bought something for $20 in Canada. All the same pattern – fuel purchased in the same places, etc. etc.

    I understand that you don’t want to contact the Security Department to unblock the card, but we can’t see which transactions were triggered for suspicious use on our end.

  10. So far I have had a wonderful experience with BECU.

    So far I have had a wonderful experience with BECU. I applied for a personal loan and the process was both easy and convenient. I really felt like they were there to help me which is rare nowadays. I also established membership there and was again impressed by the customer service at their Northgate location. The gentleman who helped me was very kind and made sure I knew what I what benefits I would be receiving my banking with them. I’m very pleased with my experience and would recommend this institution to a friend.
